It is with great regret that we have to ask members to refrain from any further discussion of Gina Ford, her methods or her books on the site. To find out why click here. We'd be very grateful if members could report any mentions of Gina Ford using the "contact Mumsnet" facility (the little red exclamation mark to the right of each posting). Many thanks. MNHQ. "

Never seen it before.

hunkermunker · 07/08/2006 11:08

James O'Brien also rocks.

Astrophe · 07/08/2006 11:09

I only heared the 2nd half, but basicly the chap was outraged at the challenged to free speech, and doesn't seem to be a fan of... but also plugged MN as a great community place where people can swap advice etc, not a big business, and right now is very cranky about rich folk shutting down free speech..

Hope that was ok MNHQ...sorry if not.

twinsetandpearls · 07/08/2006 11:09

CountessDracula · 07/08/2006 11:10

JustineMumsnet · 07/08/2006 11:12

Hi All,
Many thanks for your support again - a lot of you have asked here and via email if there's anything you can do to help. We're anxious, obviously, not to do anything to make matters worse - what we really want is for the dogs to be called off - but we would also like to see the freedom of speech issue at stake aired more widely, as LBC did today - thanks to a Mumsnetter somewhere. Any suggestions about how to achieve this would be most welcome.
We'll be in touch over the next day or two to let you know what would be most helpful.
Best MNHQ.

wannaBe1974 · 07/08/2006 11:15

what we need is for someone to create a petition. I would do it but I don't have the knowledge and I don't have my own website. the petition should be to parliament for a change in the law that means that free speach cannot be challenged over the internet. no names would obviously be named so we wouldn't be subject to any kind of legal action as obviously this petition would extend to discussion about anyone not just one person. Then links to this petition need to be posted on every parenting website in the country so as to gather as many signatures as we possibly can. And once this happens we need to send the petition to the home office.

The way to get round this is to be pro-active. big up the rest of the childcare authors so as to boost their sales, and then get the petition started to get the law changed.

btw I have emailed the bbc re this - well fivelive anyway - don't know if anyone has the contact details for radio 4 as well?

hunkermunker · 07/08/2006 11:15

Justine...

edam · 07/08/2006 11:15

Ha! I got on LBC and told them what I think about her ruddy book. Which is a lot less complimentary now than it would have been before she sent in the lawyers to bully parenting sites.

Gobbledigook · 07/08/2006 11:16

Hmm, I think a few people might have contacted the media

Mercy · 07/08/2006 11:16

Gobbledigook - I wondered the same thing

Gobbledigook · 07/08/2006 11:16

Hey Edam - was that you just then?!
