It's stereotypical and lazy.

The only true fact about teenagers is that they are between 13 and 19 years old. I had two, and nothing about them was the same at all.
24 meatballs? DS has 15 at a time, with a huge bowl of pasta.

MmeLindor · 24/01/2014 07:48

I was initially a bit meh, but actually - you are right.

Lots of teens do the lolling about the house (the original loll usage) but we don't portray others on the site at their worst. If we did, then the pics of glam smiling women need to be exchanged for ones of onsie-clad scruff lolling on the couch, reaching for a glass of wine and the Pringles.

All the cute baby and toddler pics should be exchanged for shrieking, red-faced bundles of rage.

MmeLindor · 24/01/2014 07:49

Are we talking ikea sized meatballs?

MothratheMighty · 24/01/2014 07:52

Ping-pong sized meatballs.
DS won't wear a hoodie, ever. He says life is tough enough.

WildThong · 24/01/2014 07:53

I thought you meant 24 each Blush and was Shock Are we talking the titchy Swedish balls or big homemade collops?
My DS 15 will easily eat 15 Swedish and a giant bowl of pasta
Then walk in with a tube of Pringles an hour later!

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 24/01/2014 07:55

That depends if it really is 'at their worst'
I look at that pic and I see a happy, nice boy relaxing in his home, looking utterly happy and content.

there is nothing at all negative in my perception of that picture. But then, lolling about is my favourite pastime Grin

OohMrDarcy · 24/01/2014 07:56

I am dreading my two being teenagers... DS is only 4 and can eat mountains already - tells me all day long he is hungry and yet is the dinkiest thing and if we are talking ikea meatballs he has 5 in a kids meal I think and always swipes one of mine too... so he's on 6 at a time now... DD generally has a smaller appetite and is on 5 too :)

southeastastra · 24/01/2014 07:58

he's lying down drinking cola and eating a pizza, hardly freebasing coke.

Thingymajigs · 24/01/2014 08:03

I'm quite jealous of all your skinny teens eating massive quantities of food. My 13yo packs on the pounds just by looking at food, its a constant battle to watch what he eats without giving him a complex. It'd probably help if he moved a little more though. He pretty much lives in the same reclined position as the kid in the picture. So its pretty accurate IMO.

bootsycollins · 24/01/2014 08:06

Grin southeast

MmeLindor · 24/01/2014 08:14

Ok, maybe 'at their worst' is an exaggeration but compare the slightly negative pic of teen to the other pics on the site.

Why not show a group of kids at scouts or camping.

That pic looks like my brother as a teen, but doesn't show when he walked the West Highland Way with his friends and came home after two weeks without a shower absolutely minging

I honestly, honestly dont see it as even slightly negative.

I guess it is only negative to the extent that the individual viewing it percieves it to be so. So if you thing slobbing out on the sofa with some junk food is a negative or unworthy thing, youll interpret the picture as a negative image of teens.

if, otoh, you believe that there should be a national slobbing out day and pizza available on the nhs Grin you wont see any negativity in the image at all.

notso · 24/01/2014 08:24

2 DrNick how big are they. Mine are quite small, DS2 helps me make them so they are 3 yo hand sized. My Mum had Swedish grandparents and makes gigantic kottbullar you could probably squish them into a quater pounder!

TantrumsAndBalloons · 24/01/2014 08:25

Chillax is the most horrible word ever. Fact.

And...who even says that? My teenagers have never said it. Ever

IamInvisible · 24/01/2014 08:35

My teens don't grunt and don't fight. They are planning a lads holiday for the Summer together over my dead body. But it is the only way DS2 is going anywhere, tbh!

shobby · 24/01/2014 08:47

I don't find the picture offensive, but it is a bit inaccurate as there is no phone in his other hand or crumbs strewn everywhere. More accurate would be just a pic of a foot sticking out of a duvet....

DrNick · 24/01/2014 17:46

i think you are all right about the meatball issue
