Pop ups - aaaaarrrrghhhhh!!!

This is new and only seems to be happening in 'Chat' threads.

Lots and lots of pop ups ostensibly from yahoo directing me to Jellysplash and gambling sites.

Is it just me?

No it isn't you! There is another thread in site stuff about being directed to a sex toy site...they are looking into it.

Lots of ipad/iphone users, so not sure if it's an app store issue. I am on a samsung tab, and not having issues.

Yes, I was directed to the sex toy site twice yesterday. Aggravating.

It's happening on AIBU too and is annoying enough to make me stop using the site if it's not fixed

Like op, I'm on iPad and safari, and had two earlier, can't remember which topic(s) though.

I just had one come up on active convos page. I took a screen grab, will email to MNHq

Had to go away for a bit as was making MN unreadable. Seems to have stopped now

Have screenshots if MNHQ need them - think they are... a bit busy elsethread atm though.

Gah! Just had the pop up for jellysplash again as I was looking at 'active'. Also a great big Jellysplash banner next to MN logo at top.

Yes, I'm getting the Jelly Splash one on my iPad.

Also getting the jelly splash one on ipad as well. Seems to be when the jelly splash banner is at the top of the page.

I'm having these on my ipad mini, one update behind whatever it's supposed to be, wondered if it was just me. Yahoo ads- jelly splash and some sort of bingo. Time to pick up my Xmas book I think.

This is driving me mad, have pop pups disabled on my iPad but getting constant ones from yahoo for Jelly Splash and bingo, only when the banner ad for both is on the page. Please please please sort it out before I smash my screen in frustration! It makes the site literally unusable.

Hi all, hmmmm could you possibly send screen grabs to [email protected] of the pop ups?

Sorry if this is a pain but it would be so useful for us to see what's coming up on what boards. We have advertising filters in place and a visual will help us fix the problem quicker.

Aargh! Fucking Jellysplash pop ups! It keeps coming up as a pop up on my iPad, says ads.yahoo.com, Everyone is playing JellySplash and you have to tap OK or Cancel. Then a banner ad appears at the top of the screen for fucking Jelly Slash. Help!

It happens whenever the Jelly Splash advert is loading at the top of the page. I think it's to do with yahoo ads.

So, have just heard back from MNHQ, who say that unfortunately tech staff say there's nothing they can do about this?????

Well I haven't heard back myself, but seriously, I can't use a site that allows this type of advertising.

I've just had a "This is not a joke, you are the 10000th [or whatever] visitor to this site! Click here yada yada..." - that was in Chat.

Not an improvement to the site, I have to say.

Have just had another communication from MNHQ saying. they have got more Tech folk on the case now, so will wait and see...
