Mumsnet merchandise - your input needed please

Hi all

After years of being asked to come up with MN merchandise and (aside from some incredibly tight t-shirts with virtual mother on them way back in the early-2000s) pretty much sticking our collective fingers in our ears, we've finally found someone who can help us produce and sell a qualiteee online range - hopefully available in time for Christmas. And we're looking for your input.

We reckon a range of T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and mugs with Mumsnet in-jokes/ popular phrases - which is what folks have mentioned in the past - but is there anything else we've collectively missed? And what do you want on them? A T-shirt telling all and sundry to LTB? A mug asking whether YABU? A hoody announcing that it' really best to RTFT?

Ideas very much welcome please Grin

SilveryMoon · 24/11/2013 07:48

I'd buy the car sticker (Mumsnetter on board) and the reusable bag (AIBU to save the planet by using this bag)
Not sure about t-shirts and hoodies. Maybe.

DILLIGAF isnt very mumsnetty, its everywhere so not sonething that particularly relates to mumsnet.

nickelbabe · 25/11/2013 21:22

I like the size of thelogo on the mug.

on the teeshirts, I think the logo could be smaller, so it looks like a fullstpp or a copyright symbol?

nickelbabe · 25/11/2013 21:24

I can't bear that thing of putting stage directions in brackets (of whatever shape). Can we not just say what we mean, instead of implying we can commission little marionettes in other people's heads acting out what we mean?

It's like (and "like" is a key part of this phenomenon, a word that is used to introduce a "clip") instead of saying "and I am simplify horrified" we just click an embedded link in the powerpoint presentations of ourselves (in which we are always doing duckface) to show a well lit clip of ourselves "doing" "horrified".

this is why young people use like so much.

"And I'm like... [clip]"
"And he's like .... [clip]"
"And so they turned round and were all like [clip]"

Stop playing videos and say what you mean!

For the future-baby grow with 'I haven't read the books' on.

Kids tee 'this is just a phase'

ThenSheSaid · 25/11/2013 21:54

The mumsnet logo is really crap. Sorry. Sad Its so dated looking. I wouldn't like it on any merchandise. I don't mind the other slogans you are suggesting just without the Mumsnet logo.

superram Nice ideas those. Thanks!

All being well, we might have a link today. I'll post it here first, and then roll it out the rest of the site next week. We're a day late for cyber-Monday, but still in plenty of time for Christmas.

StuartMumsnet · 03/12/2013 16:38

Right then (adjusts bow tie, smoothes down hair, gives a gentle cough), here's a link to the Mumsnet merchandise store. It has just gone live and so may have a few technical gremlins, but we've tested it until we're blue in the face, and we can't think of any reason not to roll it out.

Before you click on the link, I should say that:

  • All T shirts are currently showing a male shirt image by default, but this will be fixed next week. Women's fit tees are of course available for everything.
  • These are the launch products. We'll do more in due course, including tote bags and other things.

Here you are then. Cyber-Tuesday's newest outlet is open for business.

AngelaDaviesHair · 03/12/2013 16:40

I do like 'Naice tea towel'. Meh on the rest.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2013 16:46

OMG. This is so exciting. Grin

RemoteControlGeekToyOfTheYear · 03/12/2013 16:50

Xmas Grin I nearly missed the tea towels because I was clicking on the product categories instead of browsing the whole lot!

StuartMumsnet · 03/12/2013 16:52

SO exciting sparklingbrook that you felt immediately compelled to throw your credit card at it, right? Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2013 16:53

I can't choose. I want lots. YABU to have lots that I want to buy Stuart. Angry

AngelaDaviesHair · 03/12/2013 16:53

Stuart, if you are wearing a bow tie, is it a Mumsnet bow tie? And if yes, why is it not available to purchase?

And could you come up with some FWR-specific merchandise? I'll be back when I've thought up some ideas.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2013 16:54

Have you put a sticky in Active to advertise it?

StuartMumsnet · 03/12/2013 17:00

Not yet, sparklingbrook. This is a soft launch - just in this thread for now. We've a load of advertising and PR/social stuff coming just around the corner.

AngelaDaviesHair - err, coming soon. Possibly.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2013 17:02

Ooh a soft launch. So we can't link to this thread in Chat or anything?

RemoteControlGeekToyOfTheYear · 03/12/2013 17:02

Does the first person to place an order get their entire order free?
