Mumsnet merchandise - your input needed please

Hi all

After years of being asked to come up with MN merchandise and (aside from some incredibly tight t-shirts with virtual mother on them way back in the early-2000s) pretty much sticking our collective fingers in our ears, we've finally found someone who can help us produce and sell a qualiteee online range - hopefully available in time for Christmas. And we're looking for your input.

We reckon a range of T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and mugs with Mumsnet in-jokes/ popular phrases - which is what folks have mentioned in the past - but is there anything else we've collectively missed? And what do you want on them? A T-shirt telling all and sundry to LTB? A mug asking whether YABU? A hoody announcing that it' really best to RTFT?

Ideas very much welcome please Grin

mug with logo on.
and I love the yabu/yanbu mug sides idea
cotton bag with shopping list on (using the choice phrases - naice ham, pombears, Biscuit etc)
family planner diary/wallchart with various pictures and phrases on.

biscuit tin with Biscuit onnit.
wine cooler sleeve with Wine on it
storage tubs with Cake on it
wrapping paper with Thanks on it

and definitely an OFRS with thatvprinted on, the logo above, and containing a first aid kit and survival objects such as matches, penknife, ball of string, tin of beans, bottle of water, pen and paper.

SpencerPercival · 17/11/2013 18:31

No clue with mizmoo or the pear.

readysteady · 17/11/2013 18:31

Again would never by clothes but would love a mug with

AIBU to dunk my..........
...........................

and on the other side it simply has

Biscuit
SpencerPercival · 17/11/2013 18:32

No idea what OFRS is either.

nickelbabe · 17/11/2013 18:35

vyt I do think that mugs and biscuit tins/plastic food storage boxes and cotton.shopping bags are the way to go.

I wouldn't buy a mn teeshirt or hoodie, if I were to choose one thing, it would be the mug or bag.

nickelbabe · 17/11/2013 18:36

OFRS is "oh fuck! ruck sack"

it's your bag that you can grab and go in case of an emergency.
it's been on all the zombie threads ever.

bigTillyMint · 17/11/2013 18:37

Is it just me that wouldn't buy anything with the MN logo on?

I might buy an in-joke mugConfused

nickelbabe · 17/11/2013 18:46

sciencerocks idea of heat changing mug is brill, but it should be aibu wgen cold and yabu on one side and yanbu on the other side when hot.

I also like the idea of a set of mugs, which gave the smilies on:
GrinHmmConfusedWinkShockBlush
no need for the others because they are pretty much universal on the internet.

also like the idea of coasters.

please don't do clothes :(

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 17/11/2013 18:49

I would like a (ceramic) travel mug (with a rubber lid), with 'ODFO' on one side and 'to the far side...' on the other Grin (MN logo on the base would be fine).

nickelbabe · 17/11/2013 18:52

oh, and I love love love the woollymug idea.
that's just bloody genius.

wizzler · 17/11/2013 19:08

Not sure I would by clothing, but I would buy bag/ mug.

I would definitely buy " Who the hell is Sharon" , and " Is that you UCM" ( Can't even type it without sniggering) and there must be room somewhere for the Mumsnet Bat

thornrose · 17/11/2013 19:08

BigTillyMint - read my post of 18.28, not even a mug for me Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/11/2013 20:22

LOVE the idea of the Woolly Hugs mug (unsurprisingly!) and I think it would sell really well. Love your idea of commission too, I'll not deny Grin

Stuart, not sure how much you know of Woolly Hugs, but see here and in the Woolly Hugs topic.

We have lots of photos of stunning knitted or crochet pieces that Mumsnetters have made for Little Hugs or Billie's Blankets that would be fabulous as a wrap around on a mug ( or we could get one designed and made) and the header piece at the top of the website that says Woolly Hugs, is a gorgeous work of art crocheted by Knotty, I have that here and it could be used as well as on a mug or maybe instead of the woolly design. Be lovely. Really lovely.

Woolly Hugs is significant and important to lots of folk on MN, and my vote is definitely for a Woolly Mug.

Fingers crossed and THANK YOU!!! Wine

ScarerStratton · 17/11/2013 23:50

Have we mentioned Nest of Vipers yet?

I would love a range of mugs with the acronyms on them, nut only if they're good quality mugs, I hate the ones that usually have stuff printed on them.

Matching teatowels and coasters would be great.

ScarerStratton · 17/11/2013 23:52

Oh and definitely at Biscuit badge, so we can subtly identify each other

SlicedLemon · 18/11/2013 00:44

Funny I should see this because yesterday I think I saw a bloke wearing a penis beaker tshirt. Shock I was trying my best to look but he had an unzipped jacket on and wouldn't stand still but that's what it looked like and I am struggling to come up with a similar alternative it may have been but that may just be me spending way too much time on here.Grin Grin

SlicedLemon · 18/11/2013 00:49

You could do hoody with an appropriate logo across the front only available at centre parksGrin Grin

ILoveAFullFridge · 18/11/2013 07:49

I agree with not having rude slogans, especially on clothing.

Also agree that if posters on this thread do not recognise or understand slogans, acronyms or pictures, then they are cliquey. Eg "Is that you, UCM?" and the bat. (Those are ones that i understand, i couldnt think of more recent ones that i dont understand, because, not understanding them, I find them unmemorable.) Fine to have them, as long as they are balanced out by having more recent slogans etc, as well as ones that run through the majority of MN and are used/recognised by the majority of MNers.

I like the idea of knickers with a "Judgey Pants" or "Reader, I judged." print. But they would have to be Bridget Jones style big knickers - which I wouldn't wear!

VikingLady · 18/11/2013 08:57

How about tshirts, key rings, mugs etc with the MN definition of "quiche" (with the dictionary definition of clique), phonetics and all? In MN blue

MmeLindor · 18/11/2013 09:13

I wouldn't buy sweary products, cause my kids are old enough to read them and start asking questions.

I do think any slogans have to very recognisable. The bat, 'Is that you, USM?' and 'In cdo we rtust' won't be recognised by the newer MNetters, and there have been a few mentioned on this thread that I didn't get. Obviously not putting enough effort into MNetting at the moment.

YABU / YANBU

Judgeypants

the emoticons

woolly hugs

MN logo

naice ham/bag

etc are all quite universally known

johnworf · 18/11/2013 09:24

I've been making and selling MN acronym mugs for over a year now and selling them on my website.

Just so no one thinks I nicked the idea from here Hmm

QuintessentialShadows · 18/11/2013 09:28

Can you think up a nice line of pink hardhats?

Umbrellas:

"Prepared for water and a flaming"

QuintessentialShadows · 18/11/2013 09:29

Wooosh.

That was the sound of MN --lawyers- heavies sweeping down on johnworf ready to sue for whatever they can think of.

ButThereAgain · 18/11/2013 09:29

I'm amazed at so many of you willing to go public about your use of MN!Grin

I think I'd only have an MN stamp on products used completely in private -- perhaps a mooncup with "Sorry, this site is temporarily offline."

QuintessentialShadows · 18/11/2013 09:30

Disclaimer: I would not buy any MN gear. No way Jose.
