Mumsnet merchandise - your input needed please

Hi all

After years of being asked to come up with MN merchandise and (aside from some incredibly tight t-shirts with virtual mother on them way back in the early-2000s) pretty much sticking our collective fingers in our ears, we've finally found someone who can help us produce and sell a qualiteee online range - hopefully available in time for Christmas. And we're looking for your input.

We reckon a range of T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and mugs with Mumsnet in-jokes/ popular phrases - which is what folks have mentioned in the past - but is there anything else we've collectively missed? And what do you want on them? A T-shirt telling all and sundry to LTB? A mug asking whether YABU? A hoody announcing that it' really best to RTFT?

Ideas very much welcome please Grin

Yes Sparkling, that's it, actually. People post on here because they think they are anonymous. But you are never anonymous on the web. Not unless you name change every day or for every post.

And if you're that paranoid? The internet is proabaly not the place for you anyway.

Sparklingbrook · 16/11/2013 09:29

I name changed for twenty minutes last week as a joke. I didn't like it.

SmilesandSunshine · 16/11/2013 09:54

Have not read the entire thread so don't know whether this has been said but how about

What's Your Favourite Biscuit

Giraffeski · 16/11/2013 10:24

Didn't you do this a few years ago? Like, at least six or seven? I had a mug which just had

< pedant >

on it. I liked it very much and I broke it eventually but I wish I had another one so can you reproduce it please? Grin

There were other things you could buy though, think it was a cafe press shop, but I thought it was a MNHQ sanctioned thing, perhaps it wS to raise money for charity or something, ggglimpopo springs to mind?

Pachacuti · 16/11/2013 10:32

Yes, Giraffeski, there was a whole bunch of merchandise when we were all doing Mile For Maude. There was definitely a shopping bag with a "naice ham" shopping list on it, I remember.

Pachacuti · 16/11/2013 10:37

In fact, it's all still available on spreadshirt.

Pachacuti · 16/11/2013 10:39

Shopping list bag.

pedant mug.

SpencerPercival · 16/11/2013 10:46

tee. Stalkers. Till you've experienced it you wouldn't get it.

SpencerPercival · 16/11/2013 10:48

And bizarrely stalkers even love the prosaic stuff. Not juicy gossip.

Indith · 16/11/2013 10:49

Well found :)

I remember all that stuff from Mile for Maude. I hadn't realised it was still around. Clearly I'd forgotten about the shopping list bag, wasn't trying to pass it off as my own genius original idea Grin. Quite fancy a bag with the LDC recipe on it.

BlondieTinsellyMinx · 16/11/2013 10:54

Will the hoodies be purple and warm/fleecy? Might get one for gardening in (the only time I wear a hoodie and always buy dark colours). It could say "mumsnetter at work" or "viper since {YEAR}" perhaps?

I'd buy a mug with the MN logo on printed with "this too shall pass" - making it a naice thermal one so the cuppa stays hot would be genius Grin

When the range expands past t-shirts/hoodies/mugs i would buy

  • A tea towel
  • A little brooch (teeny though...I think a mumsnet blue pombear has been suggested in the past, on a previous thread).
  • A scarf in MN blue printed with pale grey pombears
  • A MN blue cake tin with Naice Cake on one side and "no LDC here Wink" on the other
  • a car sticker in MN blue saying "keep your distance - viper on board"

If any of my ideas are taken forward I would like to donate the proceeds to Refuge/Women's Aid/Woolly Hugs please Smile

SpencerPercival · 16/11/2013 10:55

it wasnt cheap was it.
Good Old Maude. I hop Ggglimpopo is doing well

500internalerror · 16/11/2013 11:14

Love the peanut butter analogy!

Sparkling - no she wasn't, as far as I know. Unless she was better disguised than me of course!!

What about mn onesies? Same supplier as hoodies could provide, they could have all the classic phrases, yet they are more 'personal' ie worn on the sofa not in a shopping centre or cinema? Only my dh and best friend would ever see me in a onesie!

ControlGeek · 16/11/2013 11:30

I love the idea for the WoollyMug, and I reeeeeeaaaaallly want a genuine, all singing all dancing OFRS. A tote bag with OFRS on it would do though Wink Also loving the idea of a mn scarf with 'this is a genuine mn scarf' on it in tiny writing as a pp has suggested. When I first joined mn there was so much talk about the mn scarf that I honestly thought one existed, and spent ages googling to try and see what it looked like Blush

If you can do car stickers, can you do one that says 'If you can read this, YABU' - or maybe on the bottom of a mug? I'd love to take a judicious swig of coffee and flash this while DinkBoss is BU!

HSMMaCM · 16/11/2013 11:31

Can the shopping bag with the list on have 'cutted up pear' on it too?

I might buy a mumsnet scarf or a secret pin badge.

StuartMumsnet · 16/11/2013 11:39

Some great ideas on here, plus it functions as a handy at a glance guide to a good proportion of MN in-jokes for newbies like me. Grin

I was catching up on the thread last night on the train and doing that thing which annoys me most about other people on trains - laughing out loud at my mobile phone. Blush

Keep them coming, and we'll do as many as we can which are viable. I LOVE the YABU car sticker idea ControlGeek and that's very doable.

Happy for any designers who want to donate their commission to do so. We could even flag up those where a charitable donation would be made in the description, as it might help people choose what to buy.

CuttedUpPear · 16/11/2013 11:41

I would definitely buy the shopping bag with Cutted Up Pear written on it.

Are all MNetters going to get personalised bags then?

SpencerPercival · 16/11/2013 11:51

I don't know what OFRS IS

BIWI · 16/11/2013 12:12

I believe it's an 'Oh Fuck Rucksack' for the zombie apocalypse or something

Tee2072 · 16/11/2013 12:34

You're assuming I've never been stalked online. You assume wrong. I just don't give a flying fuck about who knows what about me as I don't put anything on the internet that I wouldn't talk about at the top of voice in the middle of church on Christmas Day, even under a name change.

I think a tote bag with MN shopping list would be brilliant.

Yes, OFRS is Oh Fuck Ruck Sack. For the zombie or other apocalypse.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 16/11/2013 13:10

I would buy

Odfod

(Odfodttfsofatfosm! For massive chests )

500internalerror · 16/11/2013 13:22

Cuddly bats for all the mn kids!

500internalerror · 16/11/2013 13:28

How about cotton shopping bags with a complete print over the whole surface, of every username current/ for the last xxx years, all varying sizes fonts & directions etc? That's a seller, because everyone would feature on it!

RubberBullets · 16/11/2013 13:29

A range of naice bras with a large range of cup sizes and starting at a 26 band called Unicorn Shit :o

ILoveAFullFridge · 16/11/2013 13:30

A rucksack-style bag with OFRS.

How about something (a tea towel?) with a picture if a bunch of flowers, only instead of flowers - vipers.
