See Blu's post of 2.45pm. Apologies have already been made for personal criticisms. Offending threads have been pulled. I assume that MNHQ have already provided written apologies anyway? The so-called defamatory comments were always countered with supportive, pro-GF ones. MN is policing itself pretty effectively to prevent any further problems arising, imo and, as we've seen, 'vicious and libelous' [sic] messages are floating around on many high-profile websites aside from this one.

I really think, therefore, that a written apology from MN members - even if everyone who has ever posted signed! - would be pissing in the wind.

I must admit I feel incredibly sorry for GF as an individual

I feel this is such a destructive path that she has set herself on with threats of litigation against a website which is merely at its heart a group of parents

I think it would take a lot of strength and soul-searching to be able to pull out of this tailspin now .. but it would certainly behove her to do so ..

Simple, what and who made her (be it as a saint or satan)a household name?
We did - the people who bought the books (and digested, composted or door stopped it) made her rich (one presumes she is well off if she can afford to have lawyers and so forth) Post every copy of the book you can find back to her publisher with a brief note (2nd class :))

And we can live in ignorance that such a person ever published such a book...

OK: Zippi has repeatedly made a suggestion that letting this lie for now may be the best course of action. It's possible that Zippi has a particular reason to suggest that.

We can't do anything to make this better, it seems (given the deletions, apologies, support for GF and the CCLBB), we could inadvertently make things worse, so perhaps it IS time to let this fall out of active convos and rest.

There was a GF thread on Another Nearly As Popular parenting site.. debate forum.. the other day with lot of negative opinion being spouted. I considered warning them about litigation issues... but couldn't be arsed...

I haven't read the thread, just have skimmed down to where mumsnet confirm that GF will be taking legal action. Since I am one of the posters who was supposedly libellous, I guess I need to find a libel lawyer. I SO have better things to do, this really pisses me off.
