Please could you change [thanks] to [flowers]?

A lot of the time I and other posters are using the Thanks emoticon to express something other than thanks - e.g. sympathy/condolences - and it seems both wrong and insensitive to type Thanks. I know the outcome is the same, but surely it would be better/easier (and probably more intuitive) for us to be able to type Flowers instead?

Thanks

Hah! Obviously this should read:

Confused

I think I'm with you ... Grin

I agree.... I'm always uncomfortable writing it on a sympathy thread as it feels so inappropriate.

I do agree, and I've been Blush more than once when I've posted without previewing and found Flowers has come out instead of Thanks. But having learnt to do it now it might be hard to relearn it. Maybe make it so typing either would work?

And I previewed this and found that you've already done it! Squeee!!!

RooneyMara · 14/03/2013 09:54

Totally agree, I actually asked this in a similar thread a couple of years ago and they said that the flowers emoticon had been started specifically as a thankyou to people who had done something lovely - the blanket knitters perhaps? so they didn't want to change it.

However I think it's entered into use in its own right so frequently now that perhaps they will consider changing their minds.

Flowers

oh!

DukeSilver · 14/03/2013 09:55

Didn't they do this ages ago? :o

Pascha · 14/03/2013 09:57

I think perhaps tech should add the instruction [flowers ] to the list at the bottom as it only says [thanks ] now.

Flowers and Brew

Morning.

Yes, we did change things, so that Thanks come up when you type [ flowers ] as well as when you type [ thanks ]

We'll amend the list of instructions as soon as we can. Thanks for reminding us that we'd not done it yet!
