Thread deletion getting on my nerves

Snog · 25/11/2012 06:36

Seems like thread deletion is becoming much more common on mumsnet and i find it annoying that threads i have taken time to post on disappear as if they had never existed. Can we not just delete inappropriate posts?
Why does the whole thread need to go?

imagine yourself complaining about this to a RL person

Imagine their bemused and pitying look

and go for a walk

Lol 'I'm upset I invested a lot of time over the past few days in a thread on the internet and now it has disappeared FOREVA'

Big sister surely?

Snog · 25/11/2012 14:39

Thanks to Helensmumsnet for the clarification on this one.
I do indeed use Threads I'm On to see threads - so that's why threads seem to disappear to me.
I was not aware that others didn't have the same issue, or that I could email mumsnet to find out what happened if a thread disappeared.
As I had suggested upthread it turns out to be mainly a technical issue and its great to hear that Threads I'm On will soon display those threads even for a short time.

Quick thanks too to those posters who have prioritised taking time from their own busy lives to post here to tell me how I should spend my time, helpful to have the guidance, in particular from those with actual experience of RL

Crikey. Is there a need to be super sarky? Hmm

GlitKnit · 25/11/2012 16:34

lol

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 25/11/2012 17:42

Arfing.
Has anyone said First World Problem yet? That always goes down so well.

OverlyWordyHurdyGurdy · 25/11/2012 17:50

That's actually quite funny.

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 25/11/2012 19:24

lol at snog. Grin That's a cracking comeback.

Honestly, it is a bit annoying when threads disappear and you don't know why, but I think you were a bit daft likening it to the gestapo.

EverlongLovesHerChristmasRobin · 25/11/2012 19:37

I can't even remember what this thread is about.

Djembe · 25/11/2012 19:41

Love 'those with actual experience of rl' Grin

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 25/11/2012 19:47

I think MNHQ should actually just delete it and not tell us why. Grin

GlitKnit · 25/11/2012 20:30

I think MNHQ should flick the vs and say "our site , our rules so fuckya"

KrisMoose · 26/11/2012 09:32

Using the term Gestapo so lightly is a disgrace. We are lucky to have a huge language to choose from so to use the name of heinous mass-murderers in such a context is absolutely wrong and hugely offensive.

Oh and HQ can delete what they want, when they want. If you're not happy - tough tits.

EdnaScoggins · 26/11/2012 11:33
Hmm

Absolutely no place for simile on MN. Wash your mouth out with soap AT ONCE or we will wash it out for you.
