Did you get a Blue Peter badge? Do tell - fame and fortune await (well, possibly)

Hello. Some very nice folks at the Beeb have been in touch with us because they're making a programme to mark the 50th anniversary of the Blue Peter badge next year.

And they really want to talk to some people who won a Blue Peter badge when they were young(er).

So, were/are you the proud owner of Blue Peter badge? What kind was it? What did you get it for? And did getting the badge inspire you to bigger and better things?

Do please post your Blue-Peter-badge tales on this thread.

The BBC folk will be watching, and they may ask us to contact some of you to see if you'd be interested in taking part in their programme. (Obviously, you'd be quite free to say no, if you didn't want to.)

Thanks, MNHQ

I got one! A white shield with a blue ship on it. It has since been thrown away, about 20+ years ago. I wrote a story about witches one Halloween, during the autumn half-term of '78 or '79 I think. I was told that my story had actually been read out but I'd missed that episode 'cos I was staying with my GPs who were too flippin' mean (and in GF's case, intellectually snobbish) to have a telly that actually worked properly. Angry Oh well.

I have a normal one (white shield with blue ship) which I was sent in the mid eighties for sending in instructions on how to make a pen tidy out of old crap useful household items Blush - it now lives on my apron so I don't lose it.

My little sister was very jealous so kept writing until she was sent a green one, which I always told her was vastly inferior. I wasn't a very nice older sister...

I've got the little round "competition winner" badge. It was for my Goldie limerick, I can remember it but I'll spare you...

fossil971 · 13/11/2013 12:28

I think I still have the book!

I got a blue peter shield when I was 8 for pointing out to them that they grew their beans up a teepee not a wigwam ( I was learning about native indians at school). I also got a green and a blue competition badge.
