I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find anything on it. Is there a frightfully good reason why there is no 'quote' facility on MN? I would find it immensely useful...

Because you get 1,000 nested quotes and a response of 'I agree'.
Copy and paste and use "s. --------------
I agree

I still agree, and what's more, it makes threads really confusing and practically unreadable

But yes: we had a Heated Debate a wee while back and most people violently agreed they didn't want a quote facility.
