Agree with Getorf. I am immediately identifiable to anyone who knows me in RL - in fact I know LOTS of MNetters in RL - our Benelux FB group has 50 odd members - all of whom know my email address and phone no. That does not bother me, because I do not going round posting bollocks on the internet.

ArtexMonkey was banned by mistake. She was told she was suspended for making repeated personal attacks on a thread. She had posted ONCE on the thread, and far less rudely than many other posters who were similarly in for the scolding email (including me).

Because she emailed then back and said that, actually, no, she wouldn't be apologising for something she hadn't done, they never lifted the ERRONEOUS suspension. No apology for he misunderstanding, nada.

And now everybody she was ever friendly with on MN assumes she has merely namechanged, or that she has done something heinous apart from tell HQ to swivel on it when she really didn't.

With regards to banning people, I am not going to bring out my lovely West Wing line as I know that it irks some of you and that is not what we're about.
However pervs and truckers aside, it is almost inconceivable that we would ban someone permanently from Mumsnet without prior warning by email that they were consistently flouting the guidelines.

But there was no evidence of that MNHQ, whilst others who flout the guidelines are enabled by MN to continue taking the piss. It upsets many people to see this. You are losing your oldest, wisest posters in favour of a load of cliquey bolleaux.

Without wishing to muddy the waters boffy, wasn't your mate quite naughty with a lot of personal attacks on one particular poster at about the time of the banning? So she may not have made more than one attack on the particular thread in question but they were taking previous very recent behaviour into account?
