Links?!?!

Why have all the links in threads suddenly vanished? Or is it just me?

I'm using the app, of that makes any difference!

I'm using the app and I've opened a few threads tonight where every single comment appears as a link, so I have the opposite problem!

Easily sorted. Amanda you pass some links over to Her Maj. There.

Explanation: The publicly-released MN app never handled links right. They looked like links but you couldn't click them. The new app (coming soon) will have clickable links, but the .... text of the link will appear separately and be clickable. We've made the server-side change to support that, but that has the side effect that your links don't look like links on the old app, for now at least. BUT, all the links on this thread work, they just don't look right on the old app.

Clear as mud in other words. All will be well once the new app gets into the app store and you upgrade. In the meantime we'll look at modifying the display on the old app to look how it used to look (though the links won't actually work there because they never did iyswim.)

I'll add a picture of my previous post in the new app here in a minute so you can see what I mean.

It did tech definitely. I've posted links to external websites on the publicly released iphone app lots of times without problem and they were definitely clickable. The links that have never worked on the app are to other mn threads, links to external sites were always fine until tonight

Ah ok. We'll fix it so that they both work then, but it might not be till late tonight or tomorrow. I've added a picture from the new app above of what they'll look like in it. innit.

I'm on the website on my iPad rather than the app, and my links are all happy again.

BTW Tech links do work in the app, so long as the link is not to mumsnet.

I'm . I'm using the app and whatever was at the bottom of your post tech is appearing as a little blue box with a ? in (ie. as an image that won't load). Was that what I'm meant to see ? Sorry if I'm being dull here...

I too have notice that links are no longer working in the app, when they used to work fine (link would open up in Safari)

Just seems to have broken stopped working this afternoon/early evening.

Hi prettybird, this should be fixed by tomorrow morning. It's broken for everyone.

Hi, Links, including to other threads should work on both versions of the app now - though they have the "new app style" appearance where the actual link appears in the text.

Thanks tech...but if you were just able to fix it so that mn links work within a few hours why wasn't it done a year ago?! Loads of us mentioned that links to threads don't work when the app was launched last summer!
