If someone is banned, they are TOLD that they are banned, right?

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 19:48

Not about anyone in particular.

Just a request for info.

If I were to be banned, would I receive an email saying "you have been banned because..." (with actual specific info) and perhaps an indication of whether teh ban was permanent or temporary?

Or would I simply not be able to log in one day?

Not that I expect to be banned any time soon, of course :)

Haven't a clue, but interested.

ShowMeTheMonet · 15/09/2011 20:06

From anecdotal evidence, I believe it is the second option but welcome clarification.

fruitshootsandheaves · 15/09/2011 20:07

I feel there should be something like this

WoofToYouTooLady · 15/09/2011 20:11

oh there was a now-vanished thread about this very subject this morning from someone who appeared to have been banned with no explanation (that poster had posted some pretty awf things and had heaps of deletions recently though)

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 20:13

I know there was Woof. Which is why I wondered. But please don't make this into a thread about that or else it'll get deleted instead of answered.

yes, I understand

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 20:15

NB I obv have no life Blush

Hassled · 15/09/2011 20:24

I'd imagine they'd be emailed. I'm guessing. Maybe it depends on the person with their finger on the red button at the time - if it's a "more in sorrow than in anger" banning, they might email. If it's a "you've made our lives a living hell for months and this banning is the highlight of our week" banning, they might not bother.

TrillianAstra · 15/09/2011 20:29

A case of "you know what you've done" perhaps?

OP posts:
ShowMeTheMonet · 15/09/2011 20:32

I think if they've been warned that if they do it agin then a ban will happen then it's tough tits, no email. Maybe they also flick them the V's as well :o

OliviaMumsnet · 15/09/2011 22:42

I have GOT to stop posting this as I'm sure I am annoying folk who haven't watched The West Wing but
"the Secret Service doesn't comment on procedure."

Oh Olivia. Stop with the references to West Wing. Some of us haven't ever watched it, you know!

Grin

Go on, tell us the answer...

Tortington · 15/09/2011 22:53

OliviaMumsnet · 15/09/2011 23:15

@DandyLioness

Olivia - do you call Justine POTUS? Grin
No. By her Secret Service name Flamingo of course. Grin BIWI - get the box set. I implore you. Fashions are dated but it's GREAT telly.
Fimbo · 15/09/2011 23:19

Grrrrrr my dh is a West Wing freak. Yes a blooming freak, he is watching the box set on repeat loop as I type. Freak, did I say that. I don't get it at all. Only watched it about once to see Rizzo from Grease.

bibbitybobbityhat · 15/09/2011 23:22

Ooooo, never knew you were banned Custy. Was it back in t'dark ages or more recent like?

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/09/2011 23:25

Gah. No time. DH always has bloody sport on. I have a boxed set of Mad Men to watch, and we have recorded endless series on the Virgin box. Never any time to see them.

CJCregg · 15/09/2011 23:30

Olivia.

I think you'll find Flamingo is my secret service name.

OliviaMumsnet · 15/09/2011 23:36

I'm sure that justabout was talking about this on a thread once and she said that when she tried to log in she got the message "forbidden" Grin

I second the West Wing boxset idea - got mine off ebay for £38 and it is epic. I very much love Claudia Jean Cregg (Flamingo - that scene was great) and Josh makes me all eyelash fluttery. Poor Mrs Landingham :(

Anyway, thanks Stig a.k.a Olivia Wink
