Local Tsarinas wanted

CatherineHMumsnet · 21/06/2011 11:10

With Mumsnet Local looking more lovely than ever, we're now searching for more Mumsnetters to join up as Tsarinas.

There are currently 40 local sites with no Tsarina to look after them (listed below) but we'd also love to see more Tsarinas in general - so if you think you'd be interested, but your local area isn't listed below, do still get in touch. The more the merrier.

You can find out what being a Tsarina involves here. Just let us know on this thread if you're interested and we'll be in touch.

How do we request a more local, local board? The nearest one to me is Exeter - over an hour and a half's drive and more than 2-3 hours from the north of the county. Devon is a big, rural place and most services divide it into North Devon and South Devon. Could we think about that MNHQ? The reason Nethuns has a stranglehold around here is that they are super-local - every small town has its own mini-board, meet-ups etc.

You don't need to go that far but I'd be more active on the local boards if my county was divided up more - maybe a sub-section?

You have my support two. I'm in East Calder but quite new to the area. Do you need me to do anything?

Can you knock me off my area please. I've done a terrible job Blush and I'm sure there is someone out there can do it far, far better than I can.

smellsofsick · 25/06/2011 18:47

I emailed on Friday, did you get it?

nickschick · 25/06/2011 19:14

Hiya Im up for this about time my local area got one!! I cant email you though?

BetterThanChocolate · 25/06/2011 20:19

I've emailed you Smile

RobynLou · 25/06/2011 20:31

have emailed.

purplepidjin · 25/06/2011 22:14

I'm just nosying on the thread, but Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight have an entire sea (the Solent) between them. There are also three ferry ports to the Island - Portsmouth, Lymington and Southampton. It's nigh on £40 to take a car across so I doubt Hampshire folk would go to stuff in the IOW and vice versa.

Sorry Blush

grinningbee · 25/06/2011 22:44

I live between areas too. If we were going more local I could do Grantham, Oakham and surrounding villages, but only if it wasn't stepping on anyone elses toes.

At least I could justify my Mumsnet time a bit more then! Grin

purplepidjin · 25/06/2011 22:47

Medina is an entirely seperate district to New Forest, Southampton etc. It's quite funny when googling directions from here to Portsmouth, though. Geographically it's shorter despite the 2 half hour ferry journeys Grin

dubaipieeye · 26/06/2011 08:54

Need anyone for Dubai/the Middle East? We could do with breaking the domination of expatwoman.com over here! Happy to help.

PositiveAttitude · 26/06/2011 09:19

Purplepidjin I second your post! I am an islander and would love a separate area just for us as I feel very cut off from the mainland area for things going on.
Please MN, separate us out!

PositiveAttitude · 26/06/2011 09:22

Just read what is involved and I would be happy to do the Isle of Wight, if they are separated and no-one else has volunteered.

PP, not sure if you are an islander or Portsmouth area, dont want to step on your toes. Smile

tinker316 · 26/06/2011 11:20

What does it involve? It won't come up on my screen??!!

DollyTwat · 26/06/2011 14:47

I've emailed too

purplepidjin · 26/06/2011 14:56

Go for it, Positive, I'm just a nosy mainlander!

grinningbee · 26/06/2011 18:58

I can't email from the page, so I hope my message will be read here instead!

DeepPurple · 26/06/2011 21:57

I can't get the e-mail to work. I am interested in doing the Huddersfield area Smile

Limelight · 26/06/2011 22:25

Splitting hairs a bit but Cleveland hasn't existed for about 15 years.

CatherineHMumsnet · 27/06/2011 09:53

Sorry for not replying earlier - was out of the office on Friday. Will be looking through emails, PMs and queries on this thread and responding today.

Dubaipieeye - it's a little trickier setting up international local sites, but we'll look into it.

Positiveattitude - I had emailed about ports/iow happy to split it if mnhq are - seems much more sensible although it was going to be my excuse to come over for a couple of daysGrin I am on mainland
