Strange happenings with my mumsnet nickname???????

Firstly, I can't seem to stay logged in for 30 days, however many times I say I want to.

Then, when I try to post a message or create a new conversation, a nickname (not my usual one) is already in the box - it's not one I have ever used.

I am confused.

Do I have a hacker stalking me? I'm not that interesting !

By the by, you may need to reset by doing "log out" followed by "log in" with "Remember me..." set to yes.

my remember me for 30 days has NEVER worked - in 10 months of posting

hunkerpumpkin · 23/10/2005 00:30

Thanks, Tech. Sent your letter to M&S yet?

hunkerpumpkin · 23/10/2005 00:30

Yes tech, that's the name I had. Thanks for sorting it out.

Bit complicated to explain, but... As part of the picture changes, I had to change the preview page you see when you look at a new thread / message. The talkboard uses a system where you can put "$something" in the template for the page and it will replace it with whatever the system thinks internally that $something means at that point. If $something doesn't mean anything at that point it gets displayed - it's like a placeholder but it never gets replaced. Anyway, I put the wrong placeholder in because I'm an idiot, so it doesn't mean anything, so it got included on the page instead of being replaced with the person's nickname. It didn't mean it thought you were someone else or anything scary like that.

Sorry, that's clear as mud, but it's late. It happened because I'm a fool is the short version.

I'm still none the wiser. But thanks anyway.

It's working for me now tech. xx

Yes, this is what I had. Dunno what you're on about tech, but I'm not getting that nickname anymore. Hoping when I log in for 30 days it allows me too now .
