Strange happenings with my mumsnet nickname???????

Firstly, I can't seem to stay logged in for 30 days, however many times I say I want to.

Then, when I try to post a message or create a new conversation, a nickname (not my usual one) is already in the box - it's not one I have ever used.

I am confused.

Do I have a hacker stalking me? I'm not that interesting !

Seems to be quite a few of us having probs staying signed in. Think Tech is hoping he (she?) can have a break as we'll not be bothered enough to put our nicknames in manually. Ha! You got it allll wrong!

bran · 22/10/2005 23:04

Some other mumsnetter has been breaking into your home and logging on - shocking! She probably has a dh who hogs their computer at home and she's been driven to extreme measures.

Alternatively, another member of your family has been logging on.

Wallace · 22/10/2005 23:05

I can't stay logged in either...thought it was just my computer, but maybe not

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 22/10/2005 23:07

other thread just below this one on site stuff.

creepmonkey · 22/10/2005 23:32

I once mistyped "chopmonkey" instead of "chipmonkey" and although MN didn't let me log on, "chopmonkey still comes up above "chipmonkey" when I am logging on.

Pixiefish · 22/10/2005 23:33

Try doing a hard refresh. Hold down ctrl and lat and click on the refresh button at the top to see if that sorts it out

Pixiefish · 22/10/2005 23:33

I don't mean 'lat' i mean 'alt'

hard refresh doens't work. It keeps logging me out whenever i leave MN - ah well, worth trying

Chandra · 23/10/2005 00:09

Could it be related to your own computer settings? (check cookies?)

MarsLady · 23/10/2005 00:09

maybe you have not allowed cookies?

oh course I have NO clue what I'm on about lmao

hunkerpumpkin · 23/10/2005 00:10

Has the nickname been used to post messages on here, Puff?

Aero · 23/10/2005 00:10

Same here re staying logged in.

puff · 23/10/2005 00:11

Checked everything on the cookie front, did virus check, spyware check and it's still doing it - ooooooooooohhhhhhhhh spooooooooooooky!!!!!!!!

This happened to me too this evening.
A name I've never seen before was in my nickname box.

hunkerpumpkin · 23/10/2005 00:12

Tech's playing silly buggers.

puff · 23/10/2005 00:12

Ghostly tech's playing silly buggers.

bubble99 · 23/10/2005 00:15

Three times when I wrote a message and previewed (yes, I do, so I have no excuse for the content ) a name appeared in the nickname box and I got the authentication error message at the top of the screen.

bubble99 · 23/10/2005 00:18

Anyone else?

Pixiefish · 23/10/2005 00:21

i've emailed tech to point this thread out to him.

Earlybird · 23/10/2005 00:22

bubble - same thing happened to me with unfamiliar name in the nickname box.

bubble99 · 23/10/2005 00:24

Mine said #-something-Nik. Is that the tech's name, then?

tech · 23/10/2005 00:29

Hello all,
The remember me for 30 days thing should work now.... sorrreee.

Was the nickname that you didn't think should be there $bean.Nick by any chance???? That makes sense (to me anyway). If you see anything else odd happen, let me know.

Tech
