Is it just me?

Soooooo slooooooow. It's forcing me to notice the children. This is NOT good.

BertieBotts · 12/03/2011 13:04

Actually I posted that and it seems to have sped up now...

CloudsAway · 12/03/2011 13:40

It's definitely the ads. I keep getting it too; it'll hang for a minute at a time, saying loading ad1.mumsnet, etc whichever page I try to navigate to. So something is wrong with one of the ads that Firefox can't cope with, and it takes ages for it to just load the page.

pinkteddy · 12/03/2011 13:42

Really slow for me as well and last night. Using firefox too.

coffeeinbed · 12/03/2011 13:43

It crashed Safari yesterday - something to do with Flash player plug in.
very slow.

ShowOfHands · 12/03/2011 13:51

It's getting worse.

I use IE7 so it seems to be universal.

nickelbabysnatcher · 12/03/2011 13:51

not slow to load, but slow to post reply.

nickelbabysnatcher · 12/03/2011 13:51

(and i'm firefox)

ShowOfHands · 12/03/2011 13:53

Posting replies is the only thing that's fast for me. Loading new pages is taking an age.

nannynick · 12/03/2011 14:42

I'm finding it sticking sometimes and not other times. Thus maybe it's an advert being slow to load, or some other page component. Chrome seems to wait for everything to load before showing the page.

CloudsAway · 12/03/2011 14:47

I think one of the worst ads for it is the amazon one with the yellow creatures that look like they are being splatted against the screen. Sometimes you can see the word 'loading' whilst the page is sitting there doing nothing.

CheeseEnforcementAgency · 12/03/2011 14:58

weevils. need rentokil/dynorod in.

Flisspaps · 12/03/2011 18:41

It's so slow it's as if we've gone back to 1998 and dial up.

ethelina · 12/03/2011 18:51

Bloody hell it's just as slow on safari as it is on the crappy lappy running Chrome or IE8.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/03/2011 20:53

ok I have blocked two scripts:
topadnew and adtalk
and I am back to normal speed.

CatherineMumsnet · 12/03/2011 20:54

Hi all, we are aware of this - not sure what's causing it yet. Sorry for the frustration, keep us posted to let us know if it's working better on any particular browser.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/03/2011 20:55

well, it is much better without those scripts!

OP posts:
nannynick · 13/03/2011 11:42

I can't see any adverts at all today. No delays in site loading though, so it does point to it being an advert problem - though if it's one particular advert, server load, or if it's a script in general is unclear.

ethelina · 13/03/2011 14:28

back to normal speed without the ads.

moosemama · 13/03/2011 20:39

Still very slow here, been driving me scatty all weekend.

The status bar seems to say waiting for ads1.mumsnet every time a page either loads ridiculously slowly (blank screen for ages) or won't load at all.

ethelina · 13/03/2011 20:40

thought it was just me with the laptop. I may as well go and do something in RL...
