Would we like a 'like' button?

On each post, so we can easily indicate if we liked what someone said, like FB?

Sometimes when I'm reading a long thread, I really like certain posts but the moment has usually passed to post an actual message about it.

No. It turns into a popularity contest when there's a bunfight. I'd rather know who did or didn't like minr or others posts than have a number.

EricNorthmansMistress · 11/03/2011 11:32

No. On MN we use actual words to express our views.

RoundOrangeHead · 11/03/2011 11:33

the red arrow option a la Daily Mail would be more fun

Blu · 11/03/2011 11:37

No, it just stirs up infighting and competitive arguing, rather than enlightening debate.

You could put it on AIBU alone, if you really want to maximise the unpleasant affect that that board has had on MN.

ZacharyQuack · 11/03/2011 11:40

No. What would be the point?

MmeLindt · 11/03/2011 11:41

No.

I do quite like a AIBU - YES / NO button with swingometer idea though.

TheMightyToosh · 11/03/2011 11:44

Everyone who says (in some cases quite rudely and/or condescendingly I have to say - where are your manners?) that on here we use words/conversation/interaction etc etc, please feel free to count up the number of times in any thread that someone's words say nothing more than something to the effect of: "I agree with what she said".

Anyway, it was just a thought. Hadn't realised there was such animosity between MN and FB. Not sure why that is. Seems a bit playground to me. Really, they are both just social networking tools for us to use, not something to be quite so attached to/defensive of. Hmm

I love red arrowing people

SlightlyB0nkers · 11/03/2011 11:46

No. Even on bookface the 'Like' button is useless.

People commenting with words is far better. If anybody likes ia post that much, they will comment properly.

Hate those stupid like buttons. Hmm, I'm getting quite riled up here. Didn't realise until now how much I disliked them.

CaptainNancy · 11/03/2011 12:37

It doesn't take more than 10 seconds to type "I agree with CaptainNancy" or "Good Post CaptainNancy".

Heck- I'll accept "What CN said" Smile
