Would we like a 'like' button?

On each post, so we can easily indicate if we liked what someone said, like FB?

Sometimes when I'm reading a long thread, I really like certain posts but the moment has usually passed to post an actual message about it.

OP posts:
PaperView · 10/03/2011 17:07

No

It's MN not facebook.

The worst and most depressing idea. Aren't we in a f*book free zone? I have not even seen I thread about people falling out on fb here, just presumed it was banned on mn. One of the many aspects I like, along with the anonymity.

PurveyorOfWoo · 10/03/2011 17:13

What exactly would we do with the Likes (or Dislikes)? Would a comment be boosted up the thread cos it was so popular. Or maybe painted in lots of garish pretty colours. Or would a thread with lots of likes get prime billing in Active Convos? Would there be an annual prize for the most Liked mumsnetter.

And where would it end??
etc.

usualsuspect · 10/03/2011 17:15

How humiliating if you never got a like for any of your posts Sad

PurveyorOfWoo · 10/03/2011 17:19

Asinine, there is a whole Facebook topic (but at least you can hide it)

abgirl · 10/03/2011 17:19

No, because if there is a like button, there will be a strong argument for a dislike button which means people will leave negative feedback without leaving a comment or giving a reason. If someone writes something negative about one of your posts atm you can normally tell whether they are a nutter or not through their post, I just don't like the idea of unjustifed and anonymous (or un-MN-named) criticism.

hocuspontas · 10/03/2011 17:21

I'd like an 'agree' or 'disagree' button for AIBU threads. If it's a long thread you could check the 'swing' before you put in your twopenn'orth. Grin Or 'agree' posts could be green and 'disagree' could be red. Then you could skip over the ones you didn't like.

OTheHugeManatee · 10/03/2011 17:22

No thanks. One of MN's best features is that it's not bleddy facebook.

bluebump · 10/03/2011 17:24

No, (and that's despite me often forgetting it's not Facebook and looking for a like button to click.)

seaweedhead · 10/03/2011 17:25

Errrmmm....no...Hmm

Pancakeflipper · 10/03/2011 17:26

No.

NonnoMum · 10/03/2011 17:27

Good idea. I like it.

Magna · 10/03/2011 17:31

No

AtYourCervix · 10/03/2011 17:34

'd rather like a counter thingy to see how many people have read the OP, then I could have a moan about the 14,000 people whoi looked but not replied.

phooey · 10/03/2011 17:36

No. As someone said, conversation killer. People argue eloquently on here.

It would look like DM comments with red and green arrows, they're nasty little critters. Like 'I agree with Nick' and not having to make your own points.

wannaBe · 10/03/2011 17:42

how would it work?

would everyone be able to see who liked everyone else's posts?

actually aren't there forums that do this already? digital spy and the like? with posters having been thanked by x people etc?

It's just a short leap from there to fluffy tickers isn't it?

MotherMountainGoat · 10/03/2011 17:48

Absolutement pas, keineswegs, no way Jose, nada de eso, nope, ya gotta be feckin kiddin me, etc, etc

BitOfFun · 10/03/2011 17:50

No.

The way this is going, soon we won't have to post any words at all- just emoticons. The 'like' button is the equivalent of a grunt.

TheMightyToosh · 10/03/2011 20:57

Well... That told me, didn't it.

OP posts:
Bumperlicious · 11/03/2011 08:05

Nope, completely pointless, negates the need for conversation. This is a talk board where we interact.

LilllyLovesLife · 11/03/2011 08:19

Would love a like button. I always forget MN hasn't got one as I am usually flicking between MN and FB!

Tee2072 · 11/03/2011 08:20

No.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/03/2011 08:23
