McDonalds Ads - tell us how do you feel about them folks?

Good day MNetters,
We've been asked if we'd host ads for McDonalds, so we thought we'd ask what you think. Would you object to banner ads (ie like the one at the top of the page) on Mumsnet?
Let us know.

Wont bother me at all as I dont pay any attention to ads anyway.

I'm a bit perturbed by the idea of a 'MN demographic' though.

Given the across the board replies to many threads I'm not sure what the demographic is .

NorkyButNice · 01/03/2011 18:33

MNHQ - There's no "a" in the Mc of McDonalds.

As for ads - no problem as far as I'm concerned.

I find the idea that MN has a "tone and feel" and that anyone who eats McDonalds doesn't belong here more disturbing.

whomovedmychocolate · 01/03/2011 18:33

Yeah why not. It's not like you are advertising The Sunday Sport. Wink

Itsjustafleshwound · 01/03/2011 18:34

Not too bothered.

CMOTdibbler · 01/03/2011 18:41

I'm not bothered, and I do have to give them credit for actually having decent allergy information. Even if I can only eat the fries (if there isn't a curly fry special on)

JimBobSquintPants · 01/03/2011 18:46

Doesn't bother me. We very occasionally eat there but DC don't really like it that much!
I will say that their charity was fantastic for a friend of ours whose toddler had cancer years ago. They were able to use the accomodation to save the 1 1/2 hr long trek in and out of London into Great Ormond Street.

chrisrobin · 01/03/2011 19:01

Doesn't bother me.

pastapestoforgotherpassword · 01/03/2011 19:02

NOOOO!!! My wankery ex husband works for them and it will remind me of him everytime I mnett !!!

ChessPiece · 01/03/2011 19:04

I don't have a problem with it.

gillybean2 · 01/03/2011 19:07

Why do they even want too? Do they think they'll gain any extra sales advertising here?
I may well have to opt for the anti ads thing a PP mentioned if you go there...

TerrorFirmer · 01/03/2011 19:12

I think they've done more than some to provide healthy options and transparent nutritional information on the burgery stuff. I appreciate and respect that.

(I also appreciate and respect a QP&Cheese when I have my twice-annual hangover Grin)

A bugger emoticon would be too far, mind.

TerrorFirmer · 01/03/2011 19:13

BURGER emoticon Blush

the other one could be introduced on a Friday night only basis...

domesticslattern · 01/03/2011 19:16

I'd not mind, though I am surprised they want to advertise with us frankly.
If you start censoring adverts widely, you're going to have one hell of a job. I hate car ads, for example, being a sad greenie, but wouldn't suggest you don't accept them. We're adults, we'll make our own minds up.

seriouslycantbebothered · 01/03/2011 19:24

god am I the only adult who likes a big mac (and Im not talking about a learge scottish person ) lol

thunderbird69 · 01/03/2011 19:27

looks like I am in the minority - I would not like to see them being supported in any way.

LunarRose · 01/03/2011 19:27

no problem with it here either...

Discounted McTastys and Lattes a possibility too.

Kudos on the charity front

jade80 · 01/03/2011 19:30

If they say 'I'm lovin' it' then I would object a lot- on the basis that it is appalling grammar!

PortBlacksandGinLane · 01/03/2011 19:32

seriouslycantbebothered - Hell No Grin !!

ArfurBrain · 01/03/2011 19:36

yes jade, on those grounds alone, I object!

HecateQueenOfWitches · 01/03/2011 19:39

Couldn't care less.

An advert is a plea, not a command.

exexpat · 01/03/2011 19:49

Not bothered. Won't make me any more likely to eat there, though.

Merrylegs · 01/03/2011 19:51

I don't know. McDonalds are just so...grubby. The way they wipe the tables with the same greying dishcloth.

GoodnightNobody · 01/03/2011 20:03

I loathe MacDonalds and all that it stands for.

I'll think less of you, but then I'm probably in the minority.

snice · 01/03/2011 20:17

Makes no diffeence to me so go for it

snice · 01/03/2011 20:18

nor any difference either Grin
