McDonalds Ads - tell us how do you feel about them folks?

Good day MNetters,
We've been asked if we'd host ads for McDonalds, so we thought we'd ask what you think. Would you object to banner ads (ie like the one at the top of the page) on Mumsnet?
Let us know.

no problem, we're all adults, they're not exactly malboro are they.

PortBlacksandGinLane · 01/03/2011 16:56

Surely you've not been able to miss The Eyeball? Shock - it's been freaking me out all day...

AtYourCervix · 01/03/2011 16:57

i don't care because i don't look at the ads anyway.

i have no idea what is and what isn't advertised on here.

muckdonalds is a bit shit though.

PaperView · 01/03/2011 16:58

Ronald McDonald House Charity

suzikettles · 01/03/2011 17:00

I don't think it fits with the site tbh. Not sure why? I'm trying to think if I've seen any other ads on here for junk food.

PortBlacksandGinLane · 01/03/2011 17:02

I find it less offensive than the one about having 'selfish time' because, as a mum, you've dared to take a bath Hmm

queenofboak · 01/03/2011 17:04

I have no problem with this.

Free food would be an bonus Grin

NonnoMum · 01/03/2011 17:06

Love Maccy D's.

Only place where they get the food to me quick enough.

And they'll bring in over if the order is not quite ready - they wouldn't dream of doing that at soft play.

And we sometimes have carrot sticks...

Tee2072 · 01/03/2011 17:06

I use Adblock (sorry MNHQ) so I never see ads anyway.

I imagine they are offering a lot of money. I say take the money and run.

NonnoMum · 01/03/2011 17:07

Much prefer to go there than buy Playdate cards...

moondog · 01/03/2011 17:10

Advertise what you like-with the exception of formula or guns.

JeremyVile · 01/03/2011 17:11

I think that if you (the business) will benefit more from McDonalds ad than another ad - spose I just mean if they pay significantly more - then do it.

If you would not get any extra benefit then dont. Not like the space will go unfilled.

freshmint · 01/03/2011 17:12

I have trained my children. When we see a McDonalds they say "That's the place that does really disgusting food that is really bad for you, isn't it mummy? Why is it so full? Don't all those people know what horrible food it is mummy?"

Grin

pass that on to mcdonalds if you like.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/03/2011 17:13

I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I'd be interested to know what existing MN advertisers would think.

I suspect that Boden, Ella's Kitchen and Mark Warner see themselves as aiming at a very different demographic to MacDonalds....

JeremyVile · 01/03/2011 17:15

My main worry is that a McDonalds ad might encourage ruffians to get their feet under the table when otherwise they would have just passed through.

Guacamole · 01/03/2011 17:15

I have no problem, as previous posts have said Mumsnet is not for children and as an adult I can choose to look at the ad or ignore it. I'm guilty for loving the odd sausage and egg McMuffin.

Hulababy · 01/03/2011 17:17

Wouldn't bother me at all.

But then I don't really get the bad vibes some people have for the place anyway. It's a fast food place. It serves burgers and fries. It's not overly healthy but then neither is a take out Chinese or fish and chips, but we don't see the negativity with them.

MrsKwazii · 01/03/2011 17:27

Meh. Doesn't really seem to tie in with the tone and feel of Mumsnet, but it wouldn't bother me. You're running a business after all.

Looking forward to a future thread about Greggs or Fruitshoots ads? Grin

GMajor7 · 01/03/2011 17:32

Agree that McD's doesn't suit the MN image or demographic too well. In 37 years I have never eaten at McDonalds and an ad isn't going to persuade me to do so.

faeriefruitcake · 01/03/2011 17:35

No thanks, not Mc Donalds

RoundOrangeHead · 01/03/2011 17:40

don't care

perhaps you could sponsor the Happy Meal

jaggythistle · 01/03/2011 17:44

McDonalds = fine occasionally, which is how most people treat them. Had my quarterly Quarterpounder with Cheese the other day actually...

I don't think we'll all become addicts or led astray Grin

FannyFifer · 01/03/2011 17:50

Chavtastic!
The thought of eating in mcdonalds gives me the boak!

fifi25 · 01/03/2011 17:54

The only problem i have is that every time i see it i will want a mcchicken sandwich, thats the point but it could make greedy slim people like me not log on iykwim St Davids
