Everyone on here,apart from me,is able to do fantastic links to pictures with blue intro sentences and I would really like to know how you do it!
Feel totally ashamed that I can't.I know there are instructions to my right but I can never make them work and don't understand how you do...

(In Blue)"Wow-Here's one I caught ealier right here...".

Please help!

I can do them so I'm certain you can too!

startingtobehalloweenylover · 06/10/2005 23:32

you have to type

\link{this is the address of the picture\this is the blue writing}

for example

\link{ www.linusm.com/images/prison1.jpg \ Linus}

only without the gaps Linus

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 06/10/2005 23:32

To insert a link to a web site, type
description - where url is the .... address of the site, and description is the text you want to appear in your message. So to link to bbc news you could type
have a look at this

From the box on the right hand side of your add a message box.

Follow that word for word a few times, practice here maybe and you'll soon have it sorted!

kid · 06/10/2005 23:32

you actually did another thread with this title but no message! LOL

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 06/10/2005 23:33

Um. ok my example didn't work to well. But hoepfully between our responses you will get the drift!

OP posts:
startingtobehalloweenylover · 07/10/2005 19:34

well try it!

just type exactly what we told you!

\link{ THE ADDRESS OF THE PICTURE \ WHAT YOU WANT TO WRITE}

Dropinthecauldron · 07/10/2005 21:06

I told you I was thick-what's confusing me is the address of the picture!

OP posts:
katymac · 07/10/2005 21:15

The address of the picture is the website address

ie htp://www.mumsnet.com

It's on the line (labelled address) towards the top of yur screen

When it goes to a photo - it is because the person has posted their photos on the web somewhere

Did that help?

MrsSpoon · 07/10/2005 21:21

I always open another window and go to the page I want to link to, copy the address from that window and paste it into my MN message/link.

startingtobehalloweenylover · 07/10/2005 21:27

sorry i was being stupid... it doesn't have to be a picture... it can be any address!!!

so if you wanted to do a link to www.mumsnet.com you would type the following:

\link{ www.mumsnet.com\ this is mumsnet!}

but you have to leave out the gaps... try it!

Dropinthecauldron · 08/10/2005 09:26

Right here goes!

OP posts:
Dropinthecauldron · 08/10/2005 09:28

\link{http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/one of my trusted sites!}

OP posts:
Dropinthecauldron · 08/10/2005 09:29

This is weird, I did my first successful link yesterday. Then tried to show off and cocked it up

Dropinthecauldron · 08/10/2005 09:39

I did that below-fool proof method.

Write yourself a message somewhere near the computer that says.

\link{pasted website address
\message}
