Threads I'm On in weird order

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 06/12/2010 00:51

...is this temporary or is it a new feature?? I can't see any logic to it - it's not ordered by last time I've posted OR last time anyone posted, it's just seemingly random...

OP posts:

Where are the sort by options? Confused

Google chrome, IE7, laptop.

werewolf · 06/12/2010 11:09

I swear that sort by button wasn't there a minute ago.

prettybirdinapeartree · 06/12/2010 11:09

I'm using Firefox and I'm having many (all?) of the problems that people are talking about: I specifcially came on to Site Stuf to see if it was just me Hmm

The only option I get on "Threads I'm on" is "Sort by Latest Post" but it isn't doing that - it just seems to be a random list.

I just posted on a thread I was active on (I posted on it last night, yet I only found it near the bottom of the threads, way after threads that I - or anyone else - posted on days and in some cases weeks ago). Refreshed "Threads I'm on" and it is still near the bottom Confused

This was at 10:59, so NO IT'S NOT FIXED

werewolf · 06/12/2010 11:10

Yeah, mine's not working. My latest posts are on this thread, but it's showing other posts as the latest.

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 06/12/2010 11:13

If you click on the option, it switches it to that setting, which does work. Which is fine for those who want it ordered by last time anybody posted, but if you want it the old way, it's still broken.

(I'm greedy and would like the option of both - I also like that the toggle is right there in Threads I'm On and I don't have to go up and customise)

If you're on MN new btw you can use the new bookmarking feature to automatically scroll down to your marked place in a thread - you need to activate it in Customise though.

""The only option I get on "Threads I'm on" is "Sort by Latest Post" but it isn't doing that - it just seems to be a random list.""

it does sort it by latest post but latest post by anyone rather than latest post by you as it was previously. very annoying!

piprabbit · 06/12/2010 11:16

I have heard talk of the automatic scroll facility, but I scoured the customise options and couldn't find anything that looked right and/or let me scroll anywhere.
Don't suppose you could point me in the right direction please Bertie.
Many thanks

Indith · 06/12/2010 11:26

I don't like it! Mine is the same as everyone else, if I choose last time anyone posted it works but i have to choose it every time. If I choose last time I posted in just puts them in random order and the last thread I posted is not at the top.

I actually quite like the idea of having last time anyone posted (but how long will it carry one for? If someone posted on a really old thread that I had been on will that bring it back into my threads?) I just want it to work properly.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 06/12/2010 11:29

I would also like to be always taken to my last post please, if we're changing stuff. If I click a fast-moving thread, I still have to scroll back to find myself.

YulenoYurbubson · 06/12/2010 11:31

Oh this is so annoying. I am losing track of where I have posted.

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 06/12/2010 11:33

Pip are you on MN new or classic? It's called bookmarking I think if that helps.

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 06/12/2010 11:35

Yes. Stupid order. Not happy. Don't like change. Angry

prettybirdinapeartree · 06/12/2010 11:36

Nope - it's not the "Last post by anyone": for example, this thread I evetually found at the bottom of the list, with the latest post at 11:26:59 (as I type this).

The first thread in my list of "Threads I'm on" has a last post at 11:11 today.

In between there are threads, in a random order, with last posts of, for example, 1 December, 6 December, 23 November, 22 November, 26 November. Confused

piprabbit · 06/12/2010 11:36

Classic, I think - but happy to experiment.
I will go and have another dig.
Thanks Bertie

PureAsTheDrivenShow · 06/12/2010 11:39

I would also like to know why they won't allow you to bookmark in classic? I know I keep asking. But you don't answer.

RustyBear · 06/12/2010 11:42

I think it's just that there is a problem with the 'ordered by my posts' option, which seems to be using an older page version for some reason- I assume this is what Nikita is working on, as the 'ordered by anyone's posts' seems to be working fine (Would be nice if we could set that as default in Customise though!)

Jux · 06/12/2010 11:56

It's bloody awful. And when I click the refresh button on my browser it tells me it has to resend information and is that OK. It never did that before and doesn't do it on, for instance, this thread, it just goes ahead and refreshes.

I can't keep up with the threads I'm interested in. Hopefully, it'll be OK later. I'm going out now and will leave it alone for a while, and hope that it's done by the time I get back.

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 06/12/2010 12:30

God, is it still not fixed??

IT'S GHASTLY!!! Please change it back asap - I can't bear it!

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 06/12/2010 12:33

I am not on mobile MN either - laptop, IE8, it worked fine until you started messing around with it...

NetworkGuy · 06/12/2010 13:00

'Latest I'm on' seems fine. I think it is only 'Latest post' (by me) which is currently showing some randomness, and if it doesn't take many hours to fix, I think the benefits of the option of sorting more than one way will be a great improvement.

So TIA to MN tech person(s) (Nikita and anyone else), and have some virtual alcohol (or smoothie, or whatever you might enjoy) and mince pies /fruit / something special from me as a big Thank You...

NetworkGuy · 06/12/2010 13:01

There we are... miracle worker Nikita has sorted it I think...

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 06/12/2010 13:09

There we are what? It's still shite!
I clicked on your last post there, NWG, and it took me to the top of this page (an improvement to the top of the thread, I'll grant you) but not to your post.

And I can still only see a max of 5 posts on each Thread I'm On, they're still only half the page across - despite saying there are 12 or whatever messages since my last, only 5 display.

thumbplumpuddingwitch · 06/12/2010 13:13

Ok [grudging] - it's getting better but all technical points of my previous post still stand.

NetworkGuy · 06/12/2010 13:14

Calm down, dear (in best TV advert voice) :)

Blowing a few blood vessels will do you no good.

At least you have clarified what you object to... I guess after 12 hours (or however many) it can be a bit of a pain.

Off to watch some Snooker... back later.

NikitaTech · 06/12/2010 13:20

Apologies once again. Can you please try now.It should be fine now.
