I don't normally complain about changes

but I must say I do not like that you now stay at the bottom of the thread after you post. You used to be taken to the top, which was much better as the links are right there. This way I have to scroll up!

(I promise I'm just trying to understand this, rather than pick a fight!)

@StealthPolarBear

It's threads Im On that puts me off - it's too suashed, things don't seem to be laid out nicely like they used to in the good old days
/quote]

Concerning threads I'm on, in what regard is it more squashed? Threads I'm On in "New" currently happens to show me 5 threads in my browser window, whilst in "Classic" shows me 6. Surely that means it's more spaced out? (I think because each post has two lines attributed to it - one for the poster/date+time and one for the message, whereas in Classic it is all on one line.

[quote BoysAreLikeDogs]

oh how embarrassing, a crime against the apostrophe in my prev post

Ahem.

@BoysAreLikeDogs

don't like the font

It's the same though, isn't it? There is more bold in New than in Classic - is that what you mean?

I agree New is more blue than Classic.

@addictedisgettingexcited

i agree with threads i'm on too, it only shows about 6 of the last posts rather than the 18 or where you posted last. and its all rather squished together

I don't quite follow - can you elaborate please?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 25/09/2010 19:26

Ah now I have an historical aversion to the dratted bolding so praps that's clouding my thinking

[ponders]

StealthPolarBear · 25/09/2010 19:29

because I had nice boxing to separate out the Name etc from the message itself...I think

MaMoTTaT · 25/09/2010 19:31

BALD why don't you like bolding

addictedisgettingexcited · 25/09/2010 19:35

i think its the boxes that make me feel its all squished. and yes its on 2 line which i dont like, not sure why really!

i usually use mumsnet muted and on threads i'm on it shows me either from where i posted or the last 18 posts which i prefer to the 5/6 on new

JustKeepSwimming · 25/09/2010 19:36

Can I jump in with a teeny complaint/problem?

When I click on Topics and look at, for eg, "Birth Announcements" it used to have a number next to it, so I could easily see if there was a new one

Now the numbers have gone

Can I get them back? :)

StealthPolarBear · 25/09/2010 19:36

yes, have just had a look, and it is the 2 line thign
think I will get used to it

MaMoTTaT · 25/09/2010 19:38

addicted - maybe there haven't been 18 posts on any of your recent threads since you last posted Grin

See I like it because there's so many threads that I'm on that have been posted on lots, but rather than having 18 posts of each thread you just have the last 6 show - but it tells you to the side how many replies there have been. It's all nice and neat

addictedisgettingexcited · 25/09/2010 19:40

lol, i guess diffrent people like diffrent things! i find it easier to jump back into a thread from when i posted last so i can catch up easier

addictedisgettingexcited · 25/09/2010 19:46

ahh, ignore me i've just worked out how the bookmark thing works, which solves the main problem of why i dont like it Grin

MaMoTTaT · 25/09/2010 19:53

will someone PLEASE explain what this bookmarking thing is and where i can find it????

Tee2072 · 25/09/2010 20:02

If you are using MN new you can turn on a feature in your settings that allows you to bookmark where you are in a thread, so when you go back to it you don't have to scroll and skim.

Tech, as I said I usually don't have trouble with changes. I like MN new and the inbox and bookmarking. It's just this one thing that is bugging me!

MaMoTTaT · 25/09/2010 20:15

oh

ShowOfHands · 25/09/2010 20:58

Tech, I tried 'new' for a fortnight. I don't dislike change. I did not like it. It was the colours and Threads I'm On was pants and the topic was above the thread titles instead of next to it and all sorts of things.

I like Classic. Now you tell me why we had to have new in the first place and what exactly is wrong with classic and why you can't allow us bookmarks on classic.

MaMoTTaT · 25/09/2010 21:05

showofhands - whenever my children try something new I always encourage them to try it for at least a month - as really 2 weeks is too short to make a proper decision Wink

ShowOfHands · 25/09/2010 21:12

Aah but I'm a grown-up and, er, I spend more time on here than any child does doing anything ever. Really, if you applied the man hours I put in to any other activity/hobby, I actually tried it for 3 years.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/09/2010 20:52

I'm torn. I love the bookmarking feature, but I just don't feel comfortable with MN new. I know I will get used to it.

What I find hardest is the list in Active Convos. I liked it in Classics where it was all in a line - Topic followed by Thread title, whereas in New the topic is above the thread - and in a smaller and non-bold font.

I just find it harder to read.

But I'm sticking with it for the bookmarking!

nymphadora · 27/09/2010 10:23

I dont like the jumping back to the bottom either. Makes it harder on the IPhone( where's the app btw?)
