My 30th is coming up and I really don't know what to ask for. People keep on asking me. What presents did you get at a milestone birthday that you really cherished?

Thank you all!

From who, though?
If it is girlfriends, I'd say chip in for a spa certificate, and pay your meal and maybe a few drinks on a night out. It really depends on everyone's finances.

Happy Birthday! 🥂

Obviously depends on budget and your lifestyle, but over the years I’ve been given a Singer sewing machine, a KitchenAid and a big cast iron Le Creuset roasting dish (the sort you can roast a chicken in and then make the gravy on the hob). All genuinely useful and too expensive for me to buy for myself “just because”.

If the budget is lower, there’s a lot to be said for an electric drill.

A drill is so random 😭

My partner at the time gave me a ‘holiday of a lifetime’ kinda trip. Was awesome.

I got a traditional wicker picnic hamper. (Still have it over twenty five years later).

For my 25th I got a child free weekend. That was good… it wasn’t on my actual birthday though as I was pregnant as I was for my 21st 🙄. It was about a year and a half later, but it was awesome. For my 30th I would like another one of them (and we are done having kids now so maybe I can actually do it on my birthday!)

One thing I did for DHs big birthdays is like a “yes” day. So we just do whatever he wants all day. He loves rollercoasters so a lot of the time it’s that, then dinner somewhere he likes, then sports bar to watch some kind of sport I don’t really understand, so nothing insane. Maybe you would like to do something like that?

My husband paid for my thigh tattoo as my 30th present :)

Until you’ve got one, you don’t know what you’re missing 🤣

I had an argument with my Mum for my 30th. That was memorable.
You could one up me and have a full on fight?

Honestly, depending on where you are in life, right now I’d be asking for a new fridge 😂
Do you need anything expensive that people could all get gift cards towards?
Spa day?
Gym membership?
New shoes? Handbag?
A fancy meal at a Michelin restaurant?
One of those 28-course dinners with a film?
Go-karting/hot air balloon type of experience day?
A hotel room for one with a Chinese and throw your phone out the window?

My parents got me some beautiful earrings, my DH got me a watch (which I don’t wear anymore!) and my girlfriends clubbed together to buy me a gorgeous clutch bag that I still use whenever I go out

I got given an electric screwdriver for my 40th and I’m so glad I have it

If you like to travel then good luggage is nice. I got some Rimowa suitcases for my 40th which I love using. Something you wouldn’t buy for yourself!

Justtobeclear · Today 09:20

I asked for experience gift vouchers. The best one was zip lining over a quarry! I also had champagne up the shard and a Thames dusk dinner cruise amongst a few others. It was fun to stretch the celebrations over a few months.

These are all great, thank you all!

Memories. I cherish memories.

I would much rather do a thing with friends/family than have a thing from friends/family.

My life at 40 is totally unrecognisable to my life at 30 and my needs and wants have changed so much in that time, accordingly, the things I wanted then are not wanted or needed now, but my memories of experiences and tines together will keep and always be with me.

My lovely sister in law made me a beautiful necklace. My sister and her husband bought me a personalised bottle of champagne. My husband bought me a lovely eternity ring.

Retinol, Ultrasun SPF 50+. And more Retinol.

I got an expensive designer wallet for my 30th. Still going strong a decade later. I like that it’s something that gets used every day but still special.

whereimfrom · Today 12:19

I was also pregnant on my 30th but my mum took me to London to see wicked and it was a great memory x
