Is Joanie clothing shutting down?

Just wondering if anyone had seen anything about Joanie closing down? The website is no longer accepting orders and comments have been disabled on their social media. Very odd!

They have two.chargee against the business secured against their trademark and stock, dated April 2025. They would have received a lot of money for this and hoped to trade out of it.

The brand will be sold and should come back in a few months but with a smaller staff and reduced stock. It might be possible that the founders can buy it back.

This is what happens when people buy shite from Shein and Temu.

minimadgirl · 21/01/2026 17:00

Not tried Joanie as they were just too expensive for me, but loved their designs.

But so many of the more retro style companies have gone recently. I'm not a fan of Collectif now they've been resurrected.
I seem to stick more to Carolina Dress Room now.

As for Snags, I have bought from them for years but their quality is falling. I was put off after their Black Friday fiasco and my order took a month to reach me. Got tempted back a few weeks ago. But been put off again after an order of my mum's is taking ages to be dispatched again.

It's very odd. they have limited commenting on their social media so nobody can ask what's happening.

Although it could be something as simple as moving to a new office or warehouse or something.

You'd say that though, surely? Website out of action for 72 hours for upgrades /end of year stocktake / office relocation or whatever. Some sort of explanation otherwise people think the worst.

Treeper22 · 21/01/2026 17:45

Do you think i should bother sending a dress back i bought in the sale? I have the return label and it was going to go tomorrow.

Ribenaberry12 · 21/01/2026 18:32

Oh, I’m gutted. :(

No, I’d get it up on Vinted.

Definitely do not send it back! You probably won't get a refund. Sell on instead.

I remember buying dresses for £30 years ago, their prices skyrocketed and I can't afford to spend £100 on a dress just because they got Christina Hendricks to model it.

I hope they come back is some form with similar designs but at more reasonable prices. So much of their stock ended up in the sales so I'm obviously not alone

Same, have two gorgeous Christmassy dresses from them, a plum velvet one and a tartan one, bought about 7/8 years ago for £45ish. Similar ones this Christmas were up to £85+ so I just didn’t buy. You had to spend £70 I think for free delivery as well. I didn’t care about their collabs (the dawn o porter one hurt my eyes to look at 🤣) I wish they’d just stuck with ‘normal’ models and kept the prices reasonable.

Nomnomnew · 21/01/2026 19:05

Also gutted by this, I have so much Joanie stuff, the quality was always good and the fit and I liked the retro style so much. But agree with others, I hardly bought anything the last couple of years because it got so much more expensive.

Stuckstuckstuckfuck · 21/01/2026 20:27

Sob.

I'm very quickly running out of places to buy clothes.

Aethelredtheunsteady · 21/01/2026 20:35

Such a shame! I got two of the Christina Hendricks dresses in the sale and whilst I loved the design the quality and fit wasn't quite there (I wouldn't have been happy paying £100+). That said I got a lovely velvet pinafore dress just before Christmas and I've had some gorgeous summer dresses from them over the years. Will really miss it!

BlondeFool · 21/01/2026 20:41

That’s sad. Love Joanie. Let’s pray for Sugarhill Boutique 🙏🙏🙏

Treeper22 · 21/01/2026 21:02

Ah thanks to pp for advice, that was my thought!

rockandscroll · 21/01/2026 21:09

Well this is not my favourite way to start a year 😢

rockandscroll · 21/01/2026 21:14

All those boring financial types* who say "wait and don't click add to basket" were so wrong!! I should have bought twenty pairs of metallic Mary Janes and a hundred 70s print midaxis while I had the chance 💔

*No offense intended,I am merely broken hearted at the loss of Joanie, RIP (rest in prints)

Hopefully a concession?!? But who ..there's only Next and m&S left...and Joanie isn't really on brand for either 😭🌸

Yep, there is a real hollowing out of mid price brands.
