Just wondering if anyone had seen anything about Joanie closing down? The website is no longer accepting orders and comments have been disabled on their social media. Very odd!

I have only recently discovered Joanie clothing. Unfortunately, it does look like they may be in financial trouble. Hoping it's just a blip.

Benzmermer · 21/01/2026 04:20

That is so heartbreaking. I love their jumpers. The visit more museums one is my holy grail. I hope to find it one day. RIP

MyDarlingClement · 21/01/2026 07:09

I hope it's ok. I have an outstanding refund for two dresses and a skirt. The return was processed 4 days ago and it says they refund within 14 days.

I love their clothes although they are a bit too retro/bright for my personal style. Great quality and cut though.

hellotomrw · 21/01/2026 15:08

Looks like it has! They have just posted a goodbye on instagram

KaeBee · 21/01/2026 15:11

Just seen the insta goodbye as well ☹️ what a shame.

MyDarlingClement · 21/01/2026 15:14

Such a shame. I guess I'm contacting the administrators then about my refund. I wonder what my chances are of getting anything back, or if the credit card company can sort it out.

MiniStormInATeacup · 21/01/2026 15:18

Instagram just posted that they are definitely shutting down 😞

I'd not long discovered Joanie and had the funds so I'm sad.

I've also just discovered sugar hill boutique so that will have to be my go to!

LeonMccogh · 21/01/2026 15:20

I wonder how long Snag Tights will last…

Your best bet is going through your credit card company for a chargeback. From experience, you're unlikely to see anything from administrators and even if you do, it could be months or more down the line.

Sugarhill are lovely. Another retro inspired brand is King Louie, although they’re in the Netherlands.

Hopefully they'll not be too far behind Joanie...

Haggis0381 · 21/01/2026 15:29

Does anyone know if Joanie Preloved is still taking orders? The site usually sells stuff from individual sellers but I'm wary to place an order j case it's somehow processed via Joanie and I end up losing my money.

MrsMitford3 · 21/01/2026 15:43

Aw shame.

Bought loads for DD and DIL.

Wonder if they might continue selling under Next or somewhere?

EachandEveryone · 21/01/2026 15:48

It’s more frumpy though isn’t it? Loads of doctors at work wear it and I can spot it a mile off.

i don’t know what went wrong with Joanie the Christina Hendricks must’ve cost a bomb.

Namechangerage · 21/01/2026 15:53

It seems very sudden doesn’t it! I wonder if they got into debt and then it’s all crashed down :(

MidnightPatrol · 21/01/2026 15:55

i always suspect the writing is on the wall when they start doing silly discounts - which Joanie did, ‘50% off everything’ etc

Next up: LK Bennett

I see Russell and Bromley was sold to Next today too, with the stores to shut down.

Everyone is skint, all these brands have inflated their prices to the point their core fans can’t afford them any more.

In the background they have probably been trying to raise money to keep going, find a buyer etc.

Do you think they’ve overstretched themselves?

I like their tights but had noticed they are introducing all sorts of new ranges.

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 21/01/2026 16:01

Oh that is a shame I have a lovely Joanie/Laura Ashley dress and the quality of the velvet is great

MyDarlingClement · 21/01/2026 16:07

A lot of people seem to be mainly buying 2nd hand, which is great for sustainability but not great for brands!

If something new from Joanie is £50 at 50% off but buying similar from vinted is £15... You take a risk it won't fit but even if one out of three fit you're doing ok, and can resell the rest.

Plus Brexit and all the reasons they listed. Sorry for their staff and suppliers.

Thanks for the tip on the refund, I will try the credit card company. I hadn't ordered anything for ages so just bad luck on the timing.

ChopstickNovice · 21/01/2026 16:20

A shame, I used to buy lots there but the prices kept going higher and higher

EscapeTheCastle · 21/01/2026 16:21

I have a nice jumper by Joanie. It's 100% cotton and I would have bought more from them if the range had had more 100% cotton designs. Sad to see them go. I was always browsing.

It’s at a detriment to the previous quality of the tights too. I ordered five pairs recently, one laddered as soon as I put them on, two kept slipping down despite being my usual size. Their customer service is good, and they did replace, but it’ll be the last time I shop with them. The plain black pair I’ve got is nowhere near the same quality as the ones I bought a few years back, and the other remaining ‘good’ pair has snagged (haha!) and had the beginnings of a ladder at the crotch now so they’ll be off to the bin soon. They’re not cheap, certainly far more expensive than they were, and the whole point of them was not to roll down or ladder. Shame but the company is obviously more interested in branching out into other more lucrative products at the moment, like towels the size of King duvet covers.
