Hi,

How much do you tip your hairdresser please especially if they own the salon?

Thank you.

My hairdresser " rents a chair " . I don't give her any tip as she drives a newer car than me , has her own home , is single and has loads of holidays in fab places multiple times a year .

Yes, my brother once lived with a hairdresser who rented a chair and he was absolutely minted.

I don’t.

Tipping is outdated, divisive, feudal and, in the era of the £12+ph minimum wage, completely unnecessary.

Hairdressers are trained professionals who price their services appropriately. As a customer, I respect that, and pay accordingly. They are not forelock-tugging serfs and I am not Lady Bountiful.

Could not agree more.

My only concession is that I buy mine a bottle of whispering angel at Christmas.

I don't tip. I do give a card with a tenner and a bottle of fizz at Christmas though. And I bought some flowers when I was there and found out it was her birthday the day after.

Nothing but my hairdresser is in the city centre and charges an absolute fortune. Plus I always pay by card / Google Pay so no option to tip.

Totally agree with this.

Would love to hear a hairdresser's perspective on it though.
