What's a product that you wish existed but doesn't?

For me it's a little contraption that attaches buttons that have fallen off back onto clothes really quickly/easily without sewing. I've bought things that claim to do this before, but they're rubbish. I have an aspiration to design something one day, I'm sure it would be possible to design a good one.

Maybe an entrepreneur will read this and design our ideas!

A device which allows you to browse the web /watch films on your phone in bed without waking your partner or child (if you co-sleep). It would be like a headset you could slot your phone into that wouldn’t omit any light to fellow sleepers. It would br primarily hands-free although would also have a handheld mouse /scroll ball to allow navigation /typing if as and when required. You’d synch it with your ear pods to hear audio and focus the viewer to your own eyesight requirements to allow optimal viewing quality (you would take off glasses whilst wearing it).

I spend so many hours a week with my head hidden under a blanket trying to get a bit of down time on Netflix before I drop off whilst DD snoozes besides me. I also get very achy arms trying to hold my phone for extended periods during movies. This would be life changing for me. It should be called ‘Night Cowl’ and have an owl logo on it 😂

A gadget that takes itself into the garden after your dog to automatically poo pick and dispose of it - the poo, not the dog!

A levitating tray that hovers over your lap so you can fidget and get comfy as much as you like, without having to move the tray first.

Or dog poo bags that the dog consumes, so the poo comes out ready wrapped like sausages.

Screamingabdabz · 06/01/2025 21:55

Something you could take out on walks/runs that would automatically repel dogs from jumping up or coming near you.

Nugg · 06/01/2025 21:55

I don't know what it could possibly be, but something that stopped you having to open blister packs of tablets. I have rheumatoid arthritis and take numerous tablets every week for this and my heart condition, but my hands are so bad the irony is half the time I can't bloody open them🤣

Ooh, I've thought of another one - as my cat is sitting on my lap at this moment. A magic treatment that means pets don't leave hairs everywhere.

It's called a poodle Grin

A hypersonic speed rail/ tunnel under the Atlantic in which you could get from London to New York in an hour

AndAllOurYesterdays · 06/01/2025 22:15

Earplugs that block out all noise. Specifically, all snoring. I've tried all sorts- none sorts it completely

Luluem · 06/01/2025 22:45

I know you’ve said you’ve tried all sorts @AndAllOurYesterdays but specifically have you ever tried the Bose Sleepbuds (discontinued and now sold as ozlo instead)? They’re not cheap but genuinely the only reason I haven’t divorced my husband

Offtothepanto · 06/01/2025 23:08

Can you PM me a supplier please @Luluem ?

A design-your-own multivitamin!!!!! Over the years, I have spent hours scouring the net trying to find a multivitamin that has everything I specifically wanted and ended up having to spend £40+ just to get them within specific supplements. I ended up taking far too much of a few other vitamins which were included in each pack. However if I took all of the individual nutrients I wanted, I'd have to take a cup full of pills every day!

I just wish there was an online service where you could select the nutrients you want, (perhaps the option to have 2/3 which are stronger than others?) and then the system flags up any which can’t be taken together? Then at the end, you enter what prescribed meds you're already on and it tells you if any of your selections are contra-indicated (can’t be taken together with your prescribed meds).

Add the option to subscribe et voilà!

That exists.

Bocasan mouth wash. It was brilliant for mouth ulcers.

beetr00 · 07/01/2025 01:24

@Violetviolin you need a phone beanie for your achy arms 😀

VegTrug · 07/01/2025 01:31

@creamsnugjumper Thanks but Vitl isn't quite what I described. I've already checked them out in great detail

I've seen a gadget for that, possibly on one of the disability aids sites. Try googling for it.

GameofPhones · 07/01/2025 02:04

A device that would project kindle pages onto the ceiling, so I could read in bed while lying on my back. I've never been able to read comfortably in bed.

@Nugg you could ask the pharmacy to decant pills into a bottle

jay55 · 07/01/2025 02:23

A robot hoover that also does the skirting boards.

squishee · 07/01/2025 02:29

A silicon swim cap that's a twisty hair turban design. I'm sure it would keep my long hair drier.

WellsAndThistles · 07/01/2025 02:37

Grab and Go style bags of ice, handily available along with supermarket meal deals, just enough to throw in an insulated water bottle.

A safe, non addictive drug that will let me sleep for 7 hours.

A magic pill for DH to stop him snoring for 7 hours 🙄

Self cleaning cat litter tray that bags the shit for me.

Scissors with an in built tracking device.

Automated wheelie bins that will 'drive' themselves to the roadside on the correct day, an more importantly, fetch themselves back in again.

beetr00 · 07/01/2025 02:45

@WellsAndThistles a most excellent list 😀

YES!!! If anyone has the answer to the dripping Tupperware dishwasher issue for the love of God, please share!
While we’re at it, if someone can invent some that doesn’t turn brown or orange at the slightest hint of pasta sauce too!

When the dishwasher is finished but still hot, I go round turning all the mugs with bastarding concave bottoms onto their sides. I also angle the Tupperware so that any collected water runs out. It then all evaporates instead of dripping annoyingly during unloading.

Musk is working on it.

I wish the supermarkets would bring back vegetarian products that are bean, nut or mushroom based. These options seem to have been crowded out by vegan fake meats.
