What's a product that you wish existed but doesn't?

What's a product that you wish existed but doesn't?

For me it's a little contraption that attaches buttons that have fallen off back onto clothes really quickly/easily without sewing. I've bought things that claim to do this before, but they're rubbish. I have an aspiration to design something one day, I'm sure it would be possible to design a good one.

Maybe an entrepreneur will read this and design our ideas!

A teleport so I don't have to learn how to drive

A vending machine that gives you the meal of your choice

Take a trip to Amsterdam. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FEBO

I've also come across a vending machine that does toasties and I think you can get them that make pizza.

If I’m not mistaken, the Volvo system just helps keep the car in your lane if you start to drift. I’m talking about jerks who don’t bother using the indicator/turn signals at all. There’s a special place in Bad Driver Hell for those folks.

It also gives resistance in the steering if you go to change lane / overtake without indicating. It becomes easier to always indicate as a default, even if you’re just going around a parked car and there’s no other traffic around.

You are right that there are no driving tools to help with jerks on the road who are determined to drive like eejits.

Something that keeps bathwater hotter for longer. I love long hot baths but get annoyed at having to top it up because it gets cooler too quickly.

That exists, or at least it exists outside the UK. Not that they're recommended for use whilst you're in the bath. There's a reason Big Clive referred to the examples he tested as the Babycutor.

I think the police, schools, social services and any other public office should be able to put a mark next to people they find aggressive or misogynist in an effort to get these people to therapy before they become violent offenders. Police should be able to see profiles and immediately see red means multiple organisations have concerns on this person's behaviour, amber - there are concerns but no major events, etc.The whole country seems to be keen to keep everyone looking lovely on paper/computer records when I think keeping track of inter-relational violence, threatening behaviour and worrying beliefs should be more prevalent.

A kitchen gadget that de-seeds cherry tomatoes. I like homemade salsa but am often put off doing so because I hate de-seeding!

Who deseeds a tomato? Just eat the seeds, nothing bad happens.

If you don’t de-seed them, salsa becomes too wet, especially after you salt it. Who wants water-y salsa?

We keep resisting a national ID card system in the UK. Without it there isn't a single database that such a mark could be put against. Not even HMRC have everyone on the same database.

A gadget that takes itself into the garden after your dog to automatically poo pick and dispose of it - the poo, not the dog!

A levitating tray that hovers over your lap so you can fidget and get comfy as much as you like, without having to move the tray first.

Like the pain machine, an empathy machine where you can access somone’s brain for 2 seconds and gain an understanding of their thoughts and feelings.

This sounds rather too much like "Minority Report" for my comfort. If you're targeted for bad behaviour, it could make you paranoid.

Exactly, yet there's always uproar that things were "missed" such as Wayne Cozens, Sara Sharif etc and nothing changes.

A design-your-own multivitamin!!!!! Over the years, I have spent hours scouring the net trying to find a multivitamin that has everything I specifically wanted and ended up having to spend £40+ just to get them within specific supplements. I ended up taking far too much of a few other vitamins which were included in each pack. However if I took all of the individual nutrients I wanted, I'd have to take a cup full of pills every day!

I just wish there was an online service where you could select the nutrients you want, (perhaps the option to have 2/3 which are stronger than others?) and then the system flags up any which can’t be taken together? Then at the end, you enter what prescribed meds you're already on and it tells you if any of your selections are contra-indicated (can’t be taken together with your prescribed meds).

Add the option to subscribe et voilà!

A hoover that sucks up ball pond balls and then spits them back out into the ball pond

These do exist! Soft plays use them. Very expensive though, however they do also wash them!!

Lost sock searcher.
LED tyre pressure gauge on the dashboard giving the exact oressures of each tyre

My car shows the exact pressure of each tyre on the dashboard. New style Kia Sportage

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 06/01/2025 20:58

I was going to say something to automatically scrape off any leftover food from plates, pans etc so they can go straight into the wash.

But I guess that already exists - a dog.

I want a house elf and Bernard's watch. Failing that self tidying toys and a dishwasher that loads and unloads itself including drying all the Tupperware

GellerYeller · 06/01/2025 21:03

A machine that scans your made up face, then replicates it at the push of a button any time. Must be environmentally and skin friendly though.
Bonus points if it adjusts for day/night time looks.

YES!!! If anyone has the answer to the dripping Tupperware dishwasher issue for the love of God, please share!
While we’re at it, if someone can invent some that doesn’t turn brown or orange at the slightest hint of pasta sauce too!

Get the glass ones for home or adults and dark grey/dark coloured ones for packed lunches for the kids.

Horses7 · 06/01/2025 21:26

A robot housekeeper that follows me around tidying as I go eg making bed, hanging clothes, cleaning wash basin, load/unload dishwasher, putting stuff away etc Of course I’d programme to do ironing, washing too.
Getting absurdly excited just thinking about it 🤣

IBlameTheDog · 06/01/2025 21:33

I wish shower cubicles contained giant dryers in them. Like full length hand dryers so I could be dry and warm when i stepped out.

I genuinely believe they will in the future. Can't wait!! 🤣

Would also stop the shower glass being spotted with water marks, akin to the tupperware issues!
