Hi,

I really don’t know what to buy her.

She is very fit 72 year old. She is fortunate to have the funds to buy whatever she likes.

She is a healthy eater, so no sweet etc. Not a big drinker. Always says not to buy anything for the house. Not to buy clothes.

What on earth can I get her?!

Has she any hobbies?

Terrribletwos · 10/12/2024 14:52

You could ask her?

UncomfortableSofa · 10/12/2024 14:53

If you live nearby, then get something that you can do together? Theatre, spa, concert etc

Daisy12Maisie · 10/12/2024 18:16

This might sound random but silk pillow cases. My mum thinks they are amazing.
Or theatre tickets for the two of you.

WinterFrog · 10/12/2024 18:22

I bought this for mine

Oops forgot to add link. Posted it below

National trust membership? Or similar, we have a local cinema you can join which then does very discounted tickets, film club, sells nice drinks & pizzas.

Namechange5555555555 · 10/12/2024 20:00

She still works, has her own business that keeps her very busy.

She goes to the gym most days, weekends meal out with df, lots of holidays.

She wouldn’t enjoy theatre or cinema x

I want one.. that is brilliant.
It's on my list.

Monty27 · 10/12/2024 20:09

An experience present definitely
Subscription to a magazine
A membership for a year of something she'd enjoy
Wimbledon tickets or if or any sports final tickets like rugby 🏉 for example. Something she might enjoy and make it a day out maybe for her and df??

Balloonhearts · 10/12/2024 20:11

Some kind of experience day? Does she like animals? Feed a tiger day? Gift card for her favourite restaurant?

JC03745 · 10/12/2024 20:18

-A combined gift for DF and your mum? Night away somewhere? Spa hotel?
-A meal out for you and her, spa day, afternoon tea?
-Bird bath, bird feeder, seed, fat balls?
-House plant
-Spring bulbs, leather gold gloves (so soft!) or secateurs

user2848502016 · 10/12/2024 20:46

Why not treat her to a fancy afternoon tea or a spa day?

user2848502016 · 10/12/2024 20:50

Freddie's flowers or bloom & wild subscription?

It is arriving today. I'll let you know if it's as good as it looks. I love the idea though. There's a lot I realise i don't know about my mum. I'd like to fill one in too, I think!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 11/12/2024 07:14

We are getting my mum a digital photo frame and hoping she likes it. We’ve had so many events this year so will be able to upload the photos on to that and then add more later.

RosesAndHellebores · 11/12/2024 07:26

I'm 64 and still working. I do not want afternoon tea or spa days thank you. Nor NT memberships, etc.

Things I like but wouldn't necessarily buy for myself are:

Beautiful key ring - big enough to help find keys.
The Kettlewell cashmere gauze stole - so bloody useful expensive
Another terracotta pot for the patio
Full valet for the car
A borg jacket

NeedSomeComfy · 11/12/2024 07:29

A donation to a charity that is close to her heart.

BendingSpoons · 11/12/2024 10:15

A photo album or canvas?

DollyPartonsLeftnip · 11/12/2024 12:55

I'm sorry, I've not read the full thread as I'm just passing through this afternoon. But if she has any affection with japanese foods and items, may I suggest a subscription to sakuraco ? It has a selection of hand made snacks, teas and a japanese tableware item. From different places around Japan every month. I've seen these on YouTube, they seem very popular, and are not your usual crappy sweets that no-one likes? Just a thought. Maybe Google it and see what the price is, if you think it would be something she would enjoy. Good luck and open you find something that is suitable for her. xo

MiddleAgedDread · 11/12/2024 12:57

a sports massage or massage voucher if she goes to the gym

DollyPartonsLeftnip · 11/12/2024 12:57

i hope (stupid phone)🙄

HPandthelastwish · 11/12/2024 13:12

Did she have a childhood passion? I bought DD and my mum a course of 6 riding lessons one year finishing with a trek along the beach. Mum had ridden when she was a teen but hasn't been on a horse in 45 years and she was apprehensive to start with and turned into a giddy child again 🤣 and was a great thing to share with Dd
