Period Pants

Do they really work? Today I've had two pairs of Modibody pants delivered. Perfect timing as I started my period today.

Can I REALLY go to work just wearing these pants tomorrow? My period is really light. Maybe 2 tampons worth a day - but will they really not let it soak through to my trousers?

Would you take other supplies just in case

I looked into them for my autistic daughter who won’t wear anything else and it says you still need to wear pads with them so what on Earth is the point of them?! I was actually going to make a post about it.

I have three daughters. Two of them wear period pants, they don't use pads with them at all. They think they're much better than pads.

The modibodi ones say you don't. I saw cheaper ones on Amazon which say you need tampons etc and I agree, what's the point of them?! I might take stuff to work just in case

You will be fine in them if you're not flooding and you have the right absorbency.

That's good! I only got two pairs as they're soooo expensive! I thought it best to give them a go first before buying more. I'm so pleased things like this exist now. I would have loved the extra security as a teenager.

I use them with heavy enough flow and nothing else. If you want to bring supplies until you're comfortable go for it.

If you are light you should be fine. You can always change at lunch time if you are nervous. I found they leaked on seam as I’m heavy and once seam is wet is seeps under to whatever you are sitting on.

I bought them both packs of 5 after they tried one pair, slightly cheaper if you buy a few. You have to rinse them before you wash them, I just do that in the washing machine before I put the wash on.

Wow I'm not sure I'd be brave enough with heavy flow. That's amazing. Can I ask if you feel dry? My main concerns are it soaking through and feeling wet.

Ah yes it was amazon I looked on! Which said you still need to wear pads with them so I though what’s the point then 😑 will look at the modi bod ones

I love period pants.if you are fairly light and have the correct pant on you really won't need a pad as well. I use wuka. ,incredibly comfortable and I don't use anything else and I have fairly heavy days

@Happycat1212 I bought some for my DD who is autistic and they are great. She wears a pair at school, changes them when she gets home and another pair overnight. No drama, no leaks, amazing for her. I did spend a bit on them, as like you say what’s the pint if she needs to eat a pad as well.

I LOVE my period pants. During the heavy days of my period (I have a copper coil fitted so get a couple of heavy days) I wear a washable pad with them as well. I had to go back to disposables when I was staying at a relatives last year for a week and it was awful, I leaked and it was so embarrassing. Couldn't wait to get back to my period pants! Mine are from Cheeky Wipes.

I just ordered some cheeky wipes ones. Would also like to know if you walk around feeling damp all day? I also got some for my daughter (who hadn’t started yet) as I wish they were invented when I was younger, to catch the leaks!

I think you can buy basic waterproof period pants that you use other protection with (the cheap ones from amazon) and then the likes of modi and cheeky wipes that you don't.

I think they are an amazing invention, been wearing them a few years and DD has just started too and thinks they are great.
Personally on heavier days I wear a pad+pants in the morning then just the pants in the afternoon as I don't fancy having to change pants in the work loos if I'm really heavy. On light and medium days they are fine on their own.

Like any waterproof material make sure you don't use fabric softener on them when you wash them as it takes the waterproof coating off.

Ooh, cross posted, cmace. I’ve been looking for ages and feeling overwhelmed by all the choice, but with the real nappy week discount I just impulse bought these ones!

I use WUKA and love them,had them about 2 years and still great,I bought the 5 pack and will replace them soon . Tried to get teen Dd to try but she won't unfortunately.

I bought a pack of the ones that you need extra protection with. They have a waterproof but soft reinforcement from front to back.

They are good if you are happy wearing, cups, tampons or pads but have very heavy flow and tend to leak (or if you worry that you might like pre teen DD does!) They stop any leaks onto your clothes. They also help keep pads in place as they offer more coverage and are thick and fitted.

I wear them alone. Absolute game changer. They’re one of my favourite recommendations. I use Modibodi and will definitely get some for DD when the time comes. Friends who have daughters who have already started say they are also big fans.

Why do people prefer to wear them over pads?
And how do they not smell if you’re wearing them all day?

I was thinking of getting some for my DD but I assumed she’d still have to wear pads it’s just so she doesn’t have to worry about leakages.

PrinceRogersNelson thanks that’s good to know as my daughter wouldn’t touch or change pads so they seemed like the solution, especially for school!

My DD swears by Wuka and I was so impressed by her reviews of them that I bought 3 pairs.

I really like them but you can feel the occasional flood or gush, which is a bit grim but overall I find them good to use. I think I’d still use tampons on my first day or two to avoid the gushing feeling though.
