I would like 72 on the motorway

If I know there aren't cameras and it's not a village/place where pedestrians are likely to cross etc. then I'm usually driving 20-30 miles over the limit (e.g. on motorways, backroads and national speed routes).

flumpybear · 03/02/2018 23:59

Don't know how fast but my brother has a Porsche GT3 and a GT4 - they're fucking quick!

scotchpie · 04/02/2018 00:14

120 in bosses company car about 25 years ago.

200 in my dreams - I'd love to be a race driver.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 04/02/2018 00:22

Regularly driving at 110 on dirt roads as a teenager (14/15?)
I knew the road well enough to do it blindfold & there was nothing but sheep for miles but still Shock to think of it now.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 04/02/2018 01:43

We didn't go particularly fast, but a friend gave me a lift in her top of the range Tesla, and demonstrated the acceleration.
The 0-60 in 6 seconds had me pinned back in my seat!

blaaake · 04/02/2018 02:13

I've driven at 165mph on a track day in a lamborghini. On normal roads, my highest has been 120mph on a deserted dual carriageway in my current car (Audi sq7). Was quite weird being in such a big car at that speed Grin

brizzledrizzle · 04/02/2018 02:22

130mph, legally, with a former work colleague in the driving seat.

Shen0102 · 04/02/2018 02:27

102/mph was lucky to get off with 3 points and a £100 fine

safariboot · 04/02/2018 02:55

As a passenger, over 100 on the motorway in a family friend's car many moons ago. The real shocker: the driver was a nurse who regularly saw patients who'd been in car crashes. And 80 on the single track roads on the Scottish Isles.

As a driver, 75. I don't wanna get points. But I'd love to take my car to a track day and see what it can really do.

scrivette · 04/02/2018 03:02

120 mph in my Sports Car on track.

Whisky2014 · 04/02/2018 03:23

Up to 120 on dual carriageways/motorways

Eilasor · 04/02/2018 03:33

I'm not sure but it was definitely in the car with my ExH on the autobahn. I never looked at how fast he was driving because I didn't want to. Incredibly experienced driver, but it was still so dangerous and so many "what ifs" that it makes me shudder now.

TheButterflyOfTheStorms · 04/02/2018 03:45

105 in a Jag. Far from any other cars!

mamaryllis · 04/02/2018 03:56

120 on the autobahn pretty standard - and I did accidentally get up to 110 on the M4 once (I was just used to driving pretty quick and it was empty and I was on my way home.) Dh was actually driving the same route in his car (we had turned up to his parents separately) but I got back 20 minutes before him and had a cup of tea. He was horrified (which is weird because he drove MUCH faster than me on the autobahn...)
These days I live in a place with ridiculously slow limits. I now drive strictly to them after dh and I nailed four tickets in two days Confused

DoctorTwo · 04/02/2018 09:02

146mph in a tuned Cooper S Clubman on a (thankfully) empty M23 just south of Hooley. I slowed down to 70 pretty sharpish.

Lweji · 04/02/2018 09:10

Not sure the fastest, but I can easily reach 110-120 miles per hour in my Golf.
I don't do it often and when it happens it tends to be without me noticing on empty, straight motorways.

Ilovecamping · 04/02/2018 09:16

160 mph as pillion on back of motorbike

Mindhunter · 04/02/2018 09:17

160 on the back of my exs motorbike on a motorway and 100 on a country road scared the shit out of me.

BikeRunSki · 04/02/2018 09:18

I had a bit of a heavy foot when I was young and foolish and drove a Mini Cooper. I pushed it marginally over 100 mph on the M1 south of Leeds (about 15 yrs ago before all the cameras). The police car behind me let me get back to 85 mph before it pulled me in so that I would only get 3 points. Lesson learnt.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 04/02/2018 09:19

140 mph in a Bentley Continental. It was terrifying.

Stiddleficks · 04/02/2018 09:19

140 on the M4 early hours of the morning in an ambulance car.

stargirl1701 · 04/02/2018 09:24

140mph on a track.

AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 04/02/2018 09:26

140 as a pillion when I was 16.

bedtimestories · 04/02/2018 09:29

@TittyGolightly I heard on the news that the whole of the m1 now has speed cameras active 24/7

TittyGolightly · 04/02/2018 09:35

There’s another reason to get out of this shitty country.

I’m generally only on the M1 at about 2am when there are very few other vehicles around.
