I have a picture atm but am going to change it to a mirror. We've got a tiny room and a mirror will help make it feel larger and I think look mch better. People seem to expect one there don't they?...

I've just bought a mirror and installed it over the fireplace, where we've had a painting for eons and I love the new effect!

We have got a 5ft mirror just waiting to be put up over our fireplace and it has a gold frame so can you guess what I suggest you do.

Whatever you choose, please don't follow the latest awful American trend.....many homes now have a big, flat screen telly over the mantlepiece. Truly dreadful, but increasingly the norm.....

Earlybird, friends have just moved to a house where the previous owners had a gogglebox on the wall above the fireplace. It caused a lot of damage to the wall when it was removed it because the wiring was ripped out and friends had to get the wall replastered.

Be careful - my mum has a very large scar on the back of her leg where her skirt (in the 50's) caught in the fire whilst looking in the mirror

My Uncle threw her to the floor and rolled her in the rug...basically saving her life

We used to have a massive mirror but as I am only 5'2" I couldn't really see much in it and it was a b**r to clean! I used to make dh do it because I'm not keen on ladders.

Now we've moved to a smaller house (the huge mirror wouldn't fit-literally!)I've got a nice Munnings print which I much prefer.

That was meant to be b**R
