Help me make my poor old vulva beautiful again

TryingAgain7651 · 08/07/2025 16:58

I've shaved it for years mainly for doing sports. Every few days, and no one was seeing it, so it didn't matter if it was stubbly or whatever.
New partner now and I'm suddenly very aware of the state of it.
Shaving more often and sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's red and bumpy and extremely unattractive.
Currently I am:

  • using a proper bikini area razor
  • using hair conditioner following a tip on here
  • exfoliating
  • using mild body lotion or coconut oil afterwards
It's still not smooth or nice looking!

Any suggestions?!

I’ m intrigued—what sports do you play with your vulva? 😂

To answer your question…have you considered a professional wax? It doesn’t grow back like a 5 o’clock shadow.

Apologies! I’ve never had it glitch like that—normally when I press enter, the text box disappears the first time.

As you were…

I find waxing the best solution, no stubble or redness etc. Once a month does the trick… painful though (although less so after the first few times). Find someone you feel comfy with though, the lady who I see is lovely, she distracts with lots of gossip 😁

Heartbreaksally · 08/07/2025 17:39

I've found sugaring to be very good for my sensitive skin/coarse hair

TryingAgain7651 · 08/07/2025 17:46

How long does it need to be to be waxed? Would it have to go into hiding for a while?!
@U53rName that made me laugh! I do a lot of yoga and pilates and I was getting rogue hairs caught in knicker elastic at random and agonising moments

@Heartbreaksally I've never even heard of sugaring! Must look it up

About 20 minutes… skin looks a bit red for about a day

I think it’s about a week of regrowth after shaving. They will tell you when you book though. I waxed for years and really miss my wax lady now. Also an amazing gossip as pp said and a few of us from work all went to the same lady 😂

Have you looked into IPL. I’ve been doing for a couple of years now and I no longer have to shave or wax anymore.

Get yourself a Phillips Lumea IPL machine (there are other cheaper ones on Amazon too) and in no time you won't need to worry about shaving OP. It only takes weeks and eliminates the hair.

That’s the one I have too

I've always shaved with a men's razor as they are sharper and so I get a closer shave. Now and again I'll wax but it's harder to get the sensitive bits if you're taking everything off. A professional wax might be best for you, I personally like to do my own.
I find the best way to avoid irritation is to let it grow a bit and don't overshave. It's unlikely he'll be turned off by a bit of hair and if he is, is shagging him really worth being uncomfortable? And side note, don't use body lotion down there, you are blocking your skin follicles and likely why it looks a mess.

Ok the no body lotion is interesting!
I thought it would be helping but maybe not
Apparently a lumea won't work on my hair /skin colouring?

Why not let it grow, nothing wrong with a cute bush.

I did think about that...I'm not spring chicken tho, it might not grow back cute!

Yes I did armpits too! Life changing!!

@SirRaymondClench
I’ve read the instruction manual, which says that it doesn’t work on blonde hair—this is what has been holding me back from taking the financial plunge of investing in one, as my leg hair is blonde. May I ask whether your leg hair is dark?
