Noisy sex

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 18:12

So, it was Valentines Day last night and my partner visited my flat. A very nice evening was had. My bedroom is by a quiet road, I always make sure the windows and curtains are closed very well. I can be a little vocal during sex. Someone has put a polite notice through my door to “keep the noise” down when I am with my partner as “god knows what my neighbours must think”. Am I wrong in just thinking this person should have ignored me!! I was not flaunting anything and now feel a little ashamed. He only visits mine about once a fortnight so not like it’s all the time. I will try and keep it down, but get carried away at times!! I feel a bit shamed to be honest.

I mean, if it's not often I probably wouldn't have sent a note and let it slide if I were them but.. I think that was the polite way of them mentioning it. Nobody likes listening to the neighbours shag.

Aldisfinest · 15/02/2023 18:19

There's not much you can do now. Try to be more considerate of neighbours and keep the noise down in future.

MintJulia · 15/02/2023 18:19

It depends what time it was. Caterwauling at 3am is seldom popular 😀

TR888 · 15/02/2023 18:22

I think if they took the trouble to write that note is because they've heard you more than once.

And in my opinion, hearing a neighbour have sex once is far too many!

Please bear in mind noisy sex can be very intrusive to others, plus it's awful if you have children around.

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 18:24

I will definitely be more mindful. I would hate to upset anyone. I am a shy person, but do like to make a bit of noise! It is definitely not all the time and was evening time, not waking anyone up. Just embarrassed!!

Noise is noise, I had neighbours who regularly slammed their front door at 8am, when I wanted my lie in.
Usedto work shifts and leave at 4.30am, I told them I could return the favour, luckily they moved.
You need to be more thoughtful of others

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 15/02/2023 18:25

Nobody wants to hear their neighbours shagging.

99.9% of the time it’s totally unnecessary.

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 18:26

No children around. Perhaps that is my problem. It was Valentine’s evening!! I t does not bother me if I hear others, but will take on board it could be distressing. I was not screaming or anything. Sound obviously carries further than I realised!

Well you were clearly loud. And if your bedroom is backed onto theirs for example, it would be seem louder. I can hear my neighbours having a chat through the walls, let alone anything else.

Mojoj · 15/02/2023 18:30

Hearing other people shagging like porn stars is horrendous. Stop showing off🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 18:31

Thank you everyone. I think I was just a bit shocked! I have not had any sex life for around ten years so all a bit new to me. I will be much more mindful in the future and will take the polite note as it was meant.

Riapia · 15/02/2023 18:51

OP the negative posts are from people who have sex with a hanky stuffed in their mouths and no one else present.

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 18:55

It’s okay, I am a grown up woman and can handle the criticism! I am just a very quiet, reserved person in general. Just maybe exploring my new sexuality a bit too much! I will not stop being vocal, but will try and be mindful of others too.

It’s not comfortable for people hearing neighbours having sex, especially if any children present in the adjoining properties. It can cause major embarrassment for some people. Unless you’re in a detached house, be more considerate

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 19:32

I will, I live in a small block with no children. I think the issue is that my bedroom is by the road where dog walkers pass. I have never left windows open or anything like that. I will definitely make attempts to be quiet. Definitely won’t be living in a detached house!

For someone to write a note, it must have been awfully loud and you have probably disturbed your neighbours multiple times. There's nothing worse than having to listen to other people having noisy sex. It's so intrusive and is guaranteed to make people feel very uncomfortable in their own homes. Why don't you go and visit your partner's home and make his neighbours uncomfortable rather than yours for a change?

Cazza49 · 15/02/2023 20:09

I do visit him and it was not a neighbour complaining, someone walking their dog outside where my bedroom is. I am mortified, will try and be quieter but not sure I deserved such a ticking off by some of these replies. I will take all onboard though!

I used to live in a small block & could the hear the couple in the flat above us when they were getting busy, just made me jealous really, I was also working shifts at the time so sometimes wished they would hurry up and finish!

purpledalmation · 16/02/2023 13:05

No one likes performance sex.

Mumoffairy · 16/02/2023 13:17

Ignore them and enjoy your sex life!

erikbloodaxe · 16/02/2023 13:23

Enjoy yourself fgs. Maybe bite the pillow to muffle the noise.

Allblackeverythingalways · 16/02/2023 13:30

Haha "performance sex" 🤣
Trust me, if its that good, you can't control it. I say that as a normally quiet shag.
OP Maybe just make sure it's not at school kicking out time 🤭

Matildahoney · 16/02/2023 13:35

Ignore it! People are so bloody upright! Majority of people have sex! I live in a detached house and my neighbours hear us, likewise we have heard them!
I agree with @Allblackeverythingalways if it's that good you can't control it!

Forestriver · 16/02/2023 13:41

Good for you Cazza, it sounds like you had a terrific Saint Valentines !

Smartishguy · 16/02/2023 14:09

Good grief. The only reason I can think of for someone walking past leaving a note would be if they thought you didn't realise and gently save you from embarrassment.

More likely an uptight, controlling arse.

I'd think most people would just smile wryly as they strolled by.

People who live in close proximity have to get used to neighbours making noise, within reason of course but having to pretend nobody has sex is ridiculous.
