Deleted Sexchat Thread

Anyone know why the Online Sexchat thread has suddenly been deleted after several months bumbling along in its horny little way? I hadn't noticed anything particularly offensive on there.

On proper chat sites there are.usually in room moderators with the power to ban nuisance posters

everywhichway · 22/10/2022 10:44

There were certainly a few intrusive and over zealous knobs on the sex chat thread who made a nuisance of themselves but surely these could have been blocked or reported and removed from the site, rather than deleting the whole thread.

It also used to be the case that you couldn't post on the sex topic threads until you had been a member for 45 days ( I think) but its now just 7 days. Maybe one way to weed out undesirables would be to restore the 45 day moratorium?

Have at it! 🍆

Are you going to reinstate the deleted thread then?

I totally agree with the sentiments above. I feel valuable threads are being entirely removed simply because it's easier and quicker than investigating / freezing / blocking individual abusers, or disallowing new posts on those threads, which is what other forums do.
I do understand that the moderators here do a difficult job for free, and we're grateful for that. Far from me to suggest that they are being "lazy", I just think that implementing some of the suggestions above (such as a longer initial moratorium period, or freezing individual accounts) wouldn't actually require more time, but would maintain the free interaction between consenting adults, which is what these forums should be all about IMAO.
Personally I'd like to see the Online Sexchat restored fully, and the one which was titled "Should I fulfil hubby's fantasy" restored but maybe frozen so it can be read, even if new posts aren't allowed. That way any useful advice given there, by both the OP and any other contributors, would still be accessible. Subscribers would also be able to PM each other if they wish to continue the conversation privately. I am going through something similar with my partner and I found that thread very useful and inspiring.
An OP with a similar issue has recently posted and I would have loved to point her towards that thread for reference - only I can't.

I agree, 7 days is too short. I believe it used to be 3 months and mumsnet occasionally transferred threads over from other areas if appropriate where the op hadn't been active for the stated duration but they could verify they were genuine.

Hi all - not sure which thread it was, exactly - if you've got any more info we're happy to take a look. We were made aware of disagreements happening on another platform that had made their way here and derailed a thread.

FWIW, we've no problem with a sex chat thread among consenting adults!

They didn't derail the thread, MN just deleted the thread. Without giving the author of the thread the option to reply to the ridiculous derailing. Very heavy handed MN and rather unfair seeing as apparently we should be encouraged to "have at it"

Reindeerinsummer · 22/10/2022 11:51

Please could we have some consistency? If threads involving 🍆are allowed to “have at it”, then please can threads excluding 🍆also be allowed to run their way in peace without deletion?
I think there is a consensus that people like and value the chats on the sex board. And they like and value the connections that can be made from them.
We can all use the block or report button if required.

MegFaeGlesga · 22/10/2022 12:20

@Reindeerinsummer "We can all use the block or report button if required." I agree, but that's probably one of the problems. I suspect one of the main reasons these threads are being deleted is because a few prudes, who aren't even moderators, are electing themselves as morality police and going trigger happy on the block and report buttons, just because they personally find the content offensive. Instead of simply moving on to topics that are more to their taste, like - I don't know - knitting or baking, they go and spoil it for everyone else by needlessly reporting these threads.
The mods can't be seen to ignore these complaints, so it's much easier for them to just delete.

Reindeerinsummer · 22/10/2022 12:25

@MegFaeGlesga Yes, I think you are right sadly.
My comment about using the block or report was really meant with regards to DMs.
I certainly agree that trigger happy reporters shouldn’t just lead to the deletion of a thread. I’ve found some long standing (now deleted) threads on here incredibly useful and it took me months to summon up the courage to post/respond. If threads are always being deleted then useful threads won’t be around long enough to help people who are turning over often quite difficult things in their mind.

Can we like knitting, baking AND sex chat threads?

Sparkybloke · 22/10/2022 13:15

@roundbackwiththerestoftheoids Absolutely. I mess with old cars but a bit of sexy chat is also most welcome!

roundbackwiththerestoftheoids · 22/10/2022 13:28

@Sparkybloke

Phew!

MegFaeGlesga · 22/10/2022 14:37

@roundbackwiththerestoftheoids Lol yes of course! I like baking myself, maybe that's why I said it 😂

Hi Becky, it was this thread here

Here

Sounds like there might be some scope for it being reopened?

Cheers 😀

Hopefully this one works out - have been on a few chat sites looking for f2f chats only but usually get fed up of the non stop unsolicited messages/pics
