Pubic Hair

With so much talk and discussion out there regarding pubes, it is hard to know what is generally accepted as being the norm these days. I am nearly 50 and have a full bush - what are other peoples ages and are they smooth, trimmed, or full-bush? Would be interested to know if this is a generational thing?

@EarthSight - Do you not remove any of your body hair at all? Have you ever associated with a male partner who shaves his face. Do they look like boys if they do?

NothingButADreamerOhNo · 06/02/2022 19:55

Whole lot shaved off, by myself, every couple of days. I'm 41 and have been shaving since my early twenties.

afternoonolympics · 07/02/2022 15:16

54 and very full bush. I like it like that and love seeing a man with full bush too.

Rocaille · 07/02/2022 22:28

39 and happy with a natural look. I've tried being totally hairless down there a few times, but it's not for me. With my hair I feel so much more dignified, womanly and sexual. Plus, I'm not prepared to invest time, money and effort in keeping up with the fashion for hairlessness.

Side point: I'm not a fan of the ridiculous new trend for men to remove hair down there. I appreciate the clean, masculine smell of male public hair, and it looks so much sexier too.

For me, I like feeling like a woman. I think of a bald vagina as prepubescent.

Why on earth would a man want to want to have sex with a woman who looks like a little girl?

Much prefer a full bush as who wants - don't want something that looks like a little girl
I find it really strange and concerning that people look at the body of a woman and automatically think of little girls just because they have no pubic hair. The pp who is post menopause for example who's hair has fallen out...how on earth could they be confused for a child?

Isometimes have hair, sometimes don't it depends how I feel!

ImprovingHusband · 08/02/2022 12:12

In something of a parallel then, why do almost all women shave their arm pits?

Why on earth would a man want to want to have sex with a woman who looks like a little girl?

I think it's similar to why men shave their body hair on Love Island and the like - so the shape of the 'eye catching' anatomy is easier to see; a shaved vulva combined with an adult woman's overall body shape is arguably more pleasing to more men then having part of that anatomy shrouded by hair.

Conversely some of it probably is cultural, even without the impact of porn. I've no idea about this, but I can imagine there are cultures out there which cherish some or all of a woman's body hair.

I'd like to have sex with my wife with no pubic hair so I can see the 'exciting' parts more clearly, so we can test the 'smooth' feeling, to see how different it is when I go down on her. She's not keen though, so that's that, her call. I'd happily shave / wax for her but no big deal.

@StarlightLady The reason why women have to go to all the effort, cost and pain to remove all signs of hair on anywhere but their hair and eyebrows is different to the reason why men make sure they don't have a beard like dickens.

It's not just 'grooming' with women. Women for a very long time have been taught to think of their own vulva as disgusting, dirty and smelly. This emphasis on shaving everything off belongs to that idea and is part of women thinking they can cleanse themselves of this dirtyness by making everything 'neat and tidy'......because God forbid, there's nothing scarier than an unruly, untidy rebellious, hairy woman! Call the police!!

EarthSight · 08/02/2022 23:16

*Dickens

EarthSight · 08/02/2022 23:18

@ImprovingHusband I encourage you to wax all your pubic hair to see how painful it is.

StarlightLady · 09/02/2022 07:11

@EarthSight - I have no desire for an online debate.

The OP simply asked what people did. I choose to remove my body hair, it’s a personal choice. I have friends who do likewise, including lesbian friends, and friends who opt not to remove their hair. Of those who opt to be hairy, l certainly do not consider that they are disgusting, dirty or smelly. Nor do l tell them what they should do.

Rocaille · 09/02/2022 09:52

It's a personal choice, but one that's made in the context of society that reviles and ridicules hairy women.

colouringindoors · 09/02/2022 19:06
  1. Trimmed, bikini line veeted but that's it. Pubic hair is there for a reason, and there on adult human females.
StickerPlace · 10/02/2022 20:28

Mid 30s and shave it all off once every week or so. So it's I either pretty bald, or short all over.

Can't be doing with long pubes anywhere. Especially in the crevice at the top hate it getting hairy there so I figure if I shave that bit off it'd look weird for there to be hair elsewhere.

Also find it much better for sex not to have hair in the way.

YeOldeNameChange · 13/02/2022 01:29

Tidy bush. I prefer it; I think it looks better. DH prefers it and hates the bald look.

Shunter350 · 13/02/2022 10:05

Opening the subject out a wee bit I'm fascinated by the fact that at some point in western society women felt a requirement to shave legs and armpits. Humans are generally naturally hairy so what was the trigger and when? Tv series and films made in modern times but set even in ancient times portray women as all smooth etc, yet surely this cannot be the case?

tuesdayisthebestday · 15/02/2022 22:26

Everything off. Love the feel of it.
Man wise I've been with a couple who shaved and it made no difference whatsoever to attractiveness or anything. I like a hairy man and it'd be a bit odd to just shave that bit 😂

tuesdayisthebestday · 15/02/2022 22:28

Oh not the old claptrap about it looking like a little girl! I'm 38 with big boobs and arse. If that is all that stands between me looking prepubescent or not there is something wrong 😂

Anotherbloke1 · 23/02/2022 18:23

Male here and all off. Partner pref that way and is same herself.

Anotherbloke1 · 23/02/2022 21:16

Nothing it all.... wouldn't have it any other way. Makes me feel fresh and clean and same for my partner.

Pisces89 · 23/02/2022 21:23

Tidy bush and that's it. DP prefers that rather than bare. DP has nothing at all which I do prefer funny enough.

Headexplodinganyoneelse · 02/03/2022 11:38

I like to look tidy & had laser treatment a few years ago to keep it neat. Prefer not to go bare, but now I'm in menopausal its got really sparse anyway.

Verv · 02/03/2022 14:51

I use clippers and get rid of all of it once it gets past a couple of mm long.
Cant bear the sensation of hair down there, its like nails down a blackboard for me.

I find nothing more utterly dull than the queue of women telling others that women who remove hair are subconsciously apeing prepubescence, or have unfounded hygiene fears, or are "doing it for the male gaze"
