Anal for the first time

Been with DP for a few months, so far we haven't done anything that adventurous but he has said a few times he'd like to try anal.

I've only done this once before, I was really young and we were both inexperienced. It hurt alot and didn't feel good at all, I've never wanted to try it again until now. I've just realised I don't even know if he's done it before!

What should we be doing to get it right? Lube? Positions?

Also worried about it being a bit gross afterwards... how messy is likely to get?

I'm prepared for it not to feel wonderful for me, but as long as its not painful and unpleasant I'm happy to try it with him.

Pjur isn't the same as those awful numbing sprays etc you can buy in sex shops

I've just had a look through the pjur range.
Their anal lubes that contain the relaxing ingredient are silicone-based, which I tend to avoid as I can only use it with my glass toys, it's not suitable with any of my other toys, and it's also difficult to clean up.
Their water-based anal lube has reasonable reviews, but it doesn't seem to contain the relaxing ingredient.
However, there are times it could be useful so I've put it on my LH wishlist and might give it a try next time I place an order.

Spooning on your left hand side is a good safe position for anal, as it lengthens out the colon.
I also found the following advice on a site for gay men. What you need to do is use positions that straighten out your lower spine (to avoid the penis hitting the sides of the anus). They recommended the missionary position with your legs pulled up.

My best suggestion is to practise with a butt plug. Keep it in position then have missionary sex for double penetration. It's amazing.

A lot of guys take their cue from porn where seemingly, every woman is just ecstatic about being pounded up the back door. Reality is very different. I have only given anal to one girl in my whole life and only because she positively wanted it,loved it and begged me to do it,,I'm not averse to it,,but this is one thing where i feel one should wait for an invite rather than put forward an expectation..

I took to anal like a duck to water! Always remember if you're feeling worried about mess, douche beforehand!!! Otherwise use lots of lube and enjoy, it can be a lot of fun for not you and DH!!!!
