Sex whilst on period

What are your experiences with this? Do men mind or not? My husband and I have never had sex whilst I'm 'properly' on but I don't know if that's unusual. And if people don't have sex when it's that time of the month because it's the woman who doesn't like it, or the man, or do women assume men don't like it?
Confused

I've just had the coil fitted a month ago and been bleeding ever since Hmm

With a relatively new partner and I asked his thoughts and he said it didn't bother him.

Oh but we don't do oral atm btw.

SaggyNaggy · 29/08/2016 19:58

Working in a factory with 100+ of my fellow man types I can tell you that most don't mind, in fact, it has a special name...
"Getting your red wings" Hmm

But there's some that wpont like it, think its Dirty or it will infect their penis with a terrible withering disease.

I don't think the majority do it but it hasn't bothered me before. It's all about the towels. And don't look down when pulling out/climbing off 😂

Crispsheets · 29/08/2016 22:56

Doesn't bother me at all. DP actually loves it.

Charley50 · 29/08/2016 23:53

Fine for me but not on the first day (heavy) unless it's by accident. We put a pink towel down.

NotTheFordType · 30/08/2016 13:52

I don't think most men mind, although I have had one LTR where he was a bit horrified at the idea. Different cultural background though.

However I usually don't like it because I end up getting a stomach ache afterwards. Think it might be to do with my cervix being open or something, as I have a low cervix.

AkimboLimbo · 30/08/2016 21:11

Not really a fan. We have done it, he doesn't mind but I often feel sore when I have my period.

organicdynamic · 30/08/2016 21:45

I use soft tampons (Gynotex) - they work really well if you have a bath first. Highly recommended and not noticable to DH. I have a friend who has DP away in the forces and she uses them when DH is on home leave at inconvenient times - remember that some couples end up DTD at period time because that is the only chance they get.

NataliaOsipova · 30/08/2016 21:48

I'm glad someone posted this - I was reading another thread where this was a big issue and it occurred to me that my DH never gives it a second's thought and whether of bit that was odd. I may not feel like it but it doesn't bother him. Just use a towel!

AkimboLimbo · 30/08/2016 22:41

A diaphragm is very useful to keep things cleaner when needed.

6demandingchildren · 01/09/2016 08:37

A tip from a friend years ago when ex was in the army.
Get a bath sponge boil it cut it in quarters and stick a bit up.
He won't know as long as it's not a marathon session.
Bit tricky getting it out tho Confused

RainbowDash92 · 01/09/2016 20:15

My husband finds it to strange when I'm on. He will never do it if I'm on my period - only when I'm coming off - and at least 2 days after I've come off before oral lol. I don't mind when I'm on my period so it's me who ends up frustrated

Boogers · 01/09/2016 20:19

ConfusedShock at the bath sponge method!

goingtotown · 01/09/2016 20:23

SaggyNaggy why are you on MN?

I wouldn't at the beginning of my period as I usually feel 'heavy' and not up for it. I don't mind a few days in, DP doesn't either.

SaggyNaggy · 01/09/2016 23:42

SaggyNaggy why are you on MN?

Why are you on MN?
What's that got to do woith the OP?
Why do you want to know?.

Is it because I'm a man perchance?

WanderingTrolley1 · 01/09/2016 23:48

I've used the sponge method. It works. Don't wanna push it in too deep, though...

Cineraria · 01/09/2016 23:58

DH had never seemed to take much notice and we carried on more or less as normal until I mentioned once that my period pains felt much better afterwards and now he always offers his services regularly when he knows I've started!

IncidentalAnarchist · 02/09/2016 18:02

I think I'd be worried about retrieving the sponge!

OP posts:
JigglypuffsCaptor · 02/09/2016 18:13

DP is in the forces, if I have my period and it's the only time we get to have a shag because he is away, we just put a towel down. Keeping my tampon in till the last minute also help minimise the mess. But it's not a problem.

It's just blood, at the end of the day he witnessed an entire human being come out of there, covered in "gunk" what's a tiny bit of blood? Grin

AkimboLimbo · 02/09/2016 21:35

If you're going to use a sponge, get a menstrual sponge, don't just cut up a bath sponge! You wouldn't want anything that has been dyed, treated with chemicals or might leave bits behind.

butterymuffin · 02/09/2016 21:40

I've seen the thing about using sponge in sex worker memoirs too. It's how they can continue to work while on.

chipsandpeas · 02/09/2016 21:41

sex in the bath/shower is ideal for when on my period
or have a shower first then use towels
