Condoms for oral sex

bunnygirlandbunnyman · 30/07/2016 00:34

I caught chlamydia through oral sex last year and would, in future, like to use condoms/oral dam for oral sex.

I wondered if any other Mumsnetters use a barrier for oral sex and what is your experience of :

  1. Does it reduce the fun and
  2. Are your partners ok with this when you insist on it

Thanks

A lot of blokes do not like to wear condoms for oral sex. They seem to think it reduces the pleasure and don't see the point. Not all men though!

Dams actually in my opinion can improve pleasure because the clit (or at least mine) is so highly sensitive, that direct stimulation with a tongue or finger can feel too much sometimes. So a barrier can get you to relax.

It's your choice and if you caught something from oral before you have your absolute right to insist on a barrier.

Sorry, 2) Yes once I insist they're totally fine.

I was watching the 'unsafe sex in the city' programme last night (I think it was on channel 4). It's all about the Sexual Diseases Clinic and they advise flavoured condoms for Oral. Definitely better than getting an std. If I were you and if a guy has a problem with it, and is putting his pleasure ahead of your sexual health and preference, I'd be looking elsewhere to have your fun.

Durex taste vile, I'd recommend basically anything else. I think flavoured condoms are horrible.

Yes it does reduce sensation significantly for the bloke and thus a lot of them will whinge about it. I would say about 50% of them will not bother with oral as a result.

Have to say, yes it does reduce sensation significantly. But health has to be priority.

I use condoms for oral with the lady I'm seeing as she has similar concerns.

We experimented with various things and what works best for her (and me) are the extra thin non-latex ones. Skyns are good, as are the Durex ones. Pasante uniques are a bit odd, but work.

These don't have the latex taste, but also bear in mind that the lube can taste bad, particularly ones with spermicide. She normally wipes the lube off with a baby wipe before starting if it's one with bad tasting lube on.

From my perspective, they work just fine. The thinness of them mean that I feel 95% of what I would without.
