Vibrator - best material and size?

DW and I introduced a vibe into our bedroom antics about 3 years ago. I took the move when I got a Durex bullet vibe from the condom section at the supermarket. It really did upgrade our sex life - frequency increased from one or twice a month to once a week or more and DW managed to climax every time (and big ones at that). DW came up with the idea of getting something bigger and bought something called a Swoon Wand which I think she got from Boots - this was even better for her - confiding in me that she used it on her own when I worked away. This one is bigger (but smaller than an erect penis) and made from a soft but very frictiony/rubbery/textured material. We then stopped using the bullet because it did not have strong vibes. Fast forward to today and she is convinced that the silicone Swoon is causing irritation/thrush and the old bullet has stopped working having relied on it for the last couple or months. DW has decided that she now wants to avoid vibes and sex has gone back to once a month. I'm thinking of getting something bigger than a bullet that is made from a hard easier to clean) material. DW would not like "sex shop" type novelty stuff - Durex brand or from a pharmacy is the only thing she would consider.
Has anyone else had irritation problems with silicone "inside" vibes (my theory is that it could be soap residue from when it was cleaned). Is there a quality non-silicone vibe that is a modest size? (I have looked on Love Honey and they all seem either cheapo gimmicks or rather too big). The big Durex one looks too big to me.

I can't comment on using vibes inside as I tend to use them for clitoral stimulation only. If it's clitoral stimulation you're after then definitely consider the Womanizer. I bought one (with a discount code as they're pricey approx £130) after reading a recommendation on this forum and it is amazing. The orgasms are unreal. I recently bought a rabbit for a bit of variety but sent it back after I found it poor in comparison. It looks like an ear thermometer and is used only externally, it sucks her clit. Its gentle so shouldn't cause reduced sensation from too much stimulation. Definitely worth the price as I've managed to get good value from cost per use Blush

well I like my rabbits. However with the thrush issue, it's those damned wipes you are advised to use to clean them. They are awful. By all means use them afterwards but give it a quick wipe with plain water at least before use. Or use a condom over it.

You're not supposed to use soap on them anyway.

Like DrFox I bought one too, but in my experience it was a complete let down. Zilch, nada, nothing.

Suggest you buy from lovhoney.co.uk, then if what you buy doesn't float her boat, you can send it back for a full refund.

Definitely go with Lovehoney.
I think silicone or hard plastic are the best materials as they are non-porous and easy to clean. I only ever use warm soapy water, rinse well and dry them with a clean towel. I would never use wipes or sprays.
Avoid jelly type materials - they can cause reactions, though you can use a condom to avoid that problem.
The Mini Wand would be my top recomendation. Outstanding clitoral stimulation.
This one is a good alrounder. Powerful, just the right size, waterproof.

Do you know what material the current one (that's caused the problem) is? Could it contain phthalates?

I didn't get on with the Womanizer, sent mine back for a refund. The mini wand is good. In fact mine was so good I burned out the motor Xmas Grin

I would agree with PrimeDirective tha Lovehoney is a really good place to shop at.

DW would not like "sex shop" type novelty stuff

Lovehoney stuff is a step above that. Apart from the one's linked to above I would also recommend this one called a magic wand:-

Although it is quite expensive it is so worth the money.

MazzleDazzle · 29/12/2015 22:59

I second the Love Honey suggestion. Maybe your DW would enjoy looking through the sight. They have an excellent returns policy and each product has customer reviews and a user guide video. Both are really helpful.

The magic wand gets very good reviews, though I don't own one. Tempted to try it myself.

The Magic Wand is amazing. Incredibly powerful but completely adjustable. They often have it on a special offer so worth keeping an eye out for that.
The only downside is the size and the fact that it's mains powered, so it's more of a faff to use. It's great to get out at the start of a session, but if you just want to grab something, the Mini Wand is the one you need.
There is a micro wand as well though I haven't tried that one.
