My DD applied 4 independent schools including JAGS, Sydenham High, CLGS and Alleyn’s. CLGS was our first choice but unfortunately she couldn't pass the second stage. She has scholarship from Sydenham but she chose Alleyn’s

jdr1234 · 02/03/2026 07:02

We were fortunate to receive offers from ucs, habs and St Albans and will be accepting habs (after much deliberation)

LePoppyes · 02/03/2026 07:08

Got various independent school offers but if we get HBS will go there.

Just sent you a PM as have similar options

For any parent choosing between Tiffin Girls and a private option later on today, Tiffin has their new Ofsted report on its website, it’s a very glowing report and probably 1 of the best published under the new framework introduced in Nov in England.

Us too! Would also be interested in some feedback about how your decision was made (even at this late stage).

drdee · 02/03/2026 18:39

Any feedback for Jags or City of London Girls?

DD got into Wallington High School for Girls (Grammar) and Godolphin & Latymer and she is on waiting list for LEH.

Not sure if we should go for G&L or stick to state options. DD wants to go to G&L but fees are too high and we will be stretching ourselves.

drdee · 02/03/2026 19:59

@Yoyoflow I know, and will be higher next year🥹

Fees are getting higher and higher!!

confusedLondonmama · 02/03/2026 20:04

Any feedback for the Dulwich Schools?

PhoenixTM · 02/03/2026 20:42

We accepted Godolphin and released SHHS and Notting Hill. The higher fees are gonna stretch us, but we got the best impression all round from Godolphin, so decided to take the plunge.

Wallington is a great school, well done to your dd, go for it!

MissRB · 02/03/2026 23:10

We have NLCS and Henrietta Barnett offers. Not considering the fee aspect for now - we are weighing on the pros and cons of the two schools for our DD. Oxford offers, additional tuition?, pastoral support etc.

Anyone in a similar dilemma?

Somewhereinlondon81 · 03/03/2026 09:36

Accepted G&L, turned down Emanuel, FHRP, NHEHS, St Benedict's. Might sound like a no-brainer but actually very different from where I thought we'd end up!

SWLmama · 03/03/2026 09:43

@MissRB we had a similar dilemma in the past. DD now in the independent school and is getting a really rounded education. Sometimes I look back on the other independent options we had, but not on the grammar school choice as much as I thought I would.

NookAndCrannying · 03/03/2026 12:28

We got offers from Highgate, UCS and City.

  • UCS was our backup (DS not super sporty).
  • CLS and Highgate were really close

Ultimately, the tie-breaker was down to that fact that I feel very strongly about not giving my child a smartphone and CLS just locks them in Yondr pouches, but I was told 50% of the kids in the current Year 7 have smartphones and the rest are either brick or no-phone. Highgate told us no smartphones allowed on site for first 2 years so felt more robust. But I didn't want DS feeling the peer pressure.

In CLS defence, I suspect smartphones are more important for travel when kids are coming from far and hopping on lots of different modes of transport (to check delays etc) but that doesn't affect us as much as we're quite central.

London3WingPrayer · 03/03/2026 12:29

Oh I am so glad the decision is made! We got CLSG, SHHS and Camden School for Girls. Accepted SHHS this morning!

W12Mum · 03/03/2026 12:49

@NookAndCrannying our school does allowed smartphones at all but kids still have them, just not at school. Peer pressure is still quite difficult when you dont want to give one to your DC. Just something to think about if it is your using that as a key decision between schools.

W12Mum · 03/03/2026 12:51

*Sorry that should say our school DOESNT allow smart phone

dsquare · 03/03/2026 13:21

We still have to fill forms we re stuck Btwn Ucs and highgate . Ucs seems to relaxed and he might not be challenged but worried about the pace and intensity of highgate

drdee · 03/03/2026 13:29

Last day for almost all independent schools to accept offers!
