Almost all of the boys sitting 10+ and 11+ will have been tutored. We didn’t apply, but I believe most of the exam is computer-based (some adaptive). So Atom may be your best bet for prep, along with a tutor if you have one.

Is it still the case that you can apply for CLS at 10+ and have another chance at 11+ if you don’t get a place the first time round?

Yes, still possible. Many who don’t get in at 10+ later get in at 11+ because there are more places. There are 100 places at 11+ (after OG and City Junior boys) and only 42-45 at 10+.

How everyone’s DS settling into city by now

Definite pluses and minuses of having done the 10+. Skipping the whole 11+ is the top one, but then there’s the possibility of regrets of whether a top 5 school or sportier school could have been a good option or even boarding. Upside is knowing what life looks like for the coming years and kids having less of an adjustment since they already did it. Things like already having the uniform and knowing all of the scheduling is making this a very relaxed summer. So was last summer without the additional studying. However, missing end of primary school celebrations was a real miss. Some kids were able to attend them, but we found a real lack of closure from the primary school years.

Some secondary schools with younger year groups do a graduation ceremony and hoodies to show they going to Year 7 and marking the transition.
