Another uniform question

First child off to secondary in sept. Uniform policy on website requires trousers to be black. Also banned are the usual leggings, joggers etc and jeans.

My question is about chinos which are also banned but my child doesn't like the scratchy nature of polyester school trousers. I found some in H&M

You really do need to check with the school. Ours wouldn't allow 'stretchy' in either skirts or trousers, which was an interesting challenge in DD's more unusual phases of body shape.

(In fact, they had a go at making all children buy trousers from the official uniform shop, and gave up in gales of laughter when one or two did dutifully turn up in Huge Square Clown Trousers.)

I would also suggest you wait. My son looked like a little boy at this stage in year 6, by September he looked like a teenager, filled out and had grown 5 inches.

Wearing a soft cotton or nylon slip under the skirt with knee socks can be quite tolerable. Talk to the school about recommended items before buying anything. As for cotton trousers, ask which types would be acceptable. Chinos is very vague.
