Re A levels and GCSEs in 2022 - the government is busy consulting on non-exam assessments (dance, design & technology, drama, film, food prep & nutrition, media, music, PE), fieldwork activities (geography, geology and environmental science), assessment of speaking skills in GCSE modern foreign languages and assessment of spoken language in GCSE English language. The consultation closes on 28 May 2021. It specifically says they are not seeking views on other subjects although further consultations may follow.

When he gave evidence to the Commons Education Committee the acting head of Ofqual definitely made it sound like there may be further changes to the exams for next year (over and above those included in the current consultation) but I don't know if that has been overtaken by events.

My DS is doing IB, not A levels - the IB announced tweaks to the 2022 exams months ago. I do hope the A level and GCSE arrangements are ironed out quickly.

Me too, mine will be in years 11 and 13 next year and I am worried. Not so much for DS (y12) as he's doing two BTEC subjects most of which are coursework, but for DD (y10) it is a real worry.

The uncertainty is hard - more for some (like DD) than others. Wish they'd make an announcement about their plans. I recognise it might all change if we have a terrible winter, but I'd rather a plan than nothing

I just wanted to share with you [proud DM emoticon] that DD has been chosen as head girl. Not just of her year but of the whole school. Justice has prevailed it seems - see previous posts re this - and we are delighted. She's being pretty nonchalant about it all but I know she is thrilled. Her classmates are so pleased for her apart from the one who was up for it as a possible dead cert who is now stonewalling her and being sulky.
Bubbly is chilling in the fridge 🍾🥂

DH has also been contacted to book his 2nd jab and so he only has a 9.5 weeks between his. Guessing that's okay. Thought it was better to have a bigger gap. He's only mid 40s.

DD also says thank you for all your best wishes, kind comments and congratulations - she's a little overwhelmed by all of your kindness and interest and the fact we don't know each other. I kind of think we do as we've been chatting for months now.
You may remember me saying a while back she is embarrassed by me saying hi to other dog walkers or other people on same walk path etc so doesn't quite get that we've been through quite a few threads together 😂

Ds text me from school today with results from recent mocks 2 A's and a B so far. His next text said....easy, I don't need to be at school anymore.

He has the history result coming tomorrow, that is his favourite subject but he has found the mocks the most difficult for history.

He says more mock exams to come after half term week too.
