So, dd had had a melt down tonight, having just discovered homework that needs to be in tomorrow! She gets up early enough to have time, but I need to get it clear in my head, in cae she needs help. She might know, but I need to know ahead of time, in case she needs guidance. So,

e.g. 1/2 divided by 5 = 1/10

how do I explain it?

the next one is 4/5 divided by 8 = is it
8 divided by 4 = 3
5 x 8 = 40
therefore the answer is 3/40?

Thats completely of the mark isn't it!

MaureenMLove · 06/11/2007 21:58

OK, here goes, you -sad- clever people!

3/8 divided by 6
6/7 divided by 12
2/15 divided by 14

This is what I got

1/16
1/14
1/105

Do I get a merit point!

Definitely - and a piece of the aforementioned cake!

These are quite hard questions.... she must be doing OK!

MaureenMLove · 06/11/2007 22:02

She's in the top set, which is fab from a boasting point of view, but not so good on the helping!

MaureenMLove · 07/11/2007 08:22

Damn her! She knew exactly what she was doing! Now it bothers me that if its this hard in Yr 7, how will I cope with Yr 10 maths!

Its called the power of MN

...now lets just hope she doesn't do A level, cos that is a distinct subject and although I have an A in A level maths I would be v v rusty
