Brit School application- yr10

Hi all, my son has applied for the Film and Media strand for Yr 10 this year. Just wondering if anyone else’s kids have done the same? We had an email acknowledgment, but heard nothing since regarding an interview or assessment.

Evening, my DD has been offered an interview for KS4 (Music) I was just wondering if there's anyone on here that travels from outside the catchment area?

@Bellarose1x dd also has a music interview but we are in catchment. I think some kids weekly commute and live with local families Monday to Friday - it’s why the school has a half day Friday so they can get home for the weekend. Good luck 🤞

@Bellarose1x my DS is in Yr 10 at the school. There are a few kids who travel in from quite a distance- from Surrey, Brighton etc. The school says around 10% of students come from outside the catchment, but they need to be exceptional.

DD went to BRIT post 16 Musical Theatre. Fantastic experience and top class preparation for getting places at the top drama schools. DD is in her final year of her BA course at Central and is looking forward to starting her performance career. Her time at BRIT gave her the preparation she needed to be able to successfully gain her place. We were in catchment but DD had a fairly lengthy journey so we did consider getting DD weekly lodgings near the school and they were very helpful in providing us details of local families who offered rooms in their homes.

@Bellarose1x how did your dd’s interview go? My dd enjoyed her day although she had a horrid cold which I think affected her performance. The waiting is horrid - I just wish we knew now. Hope yours went well. 🤞

good luck - it popped up on social media today that we found out on 24th March that DS had been offered a Y10 place in theatre so you ay not have too much longer to wait.

After hating it for the first term - he settled and really, really loves it now.

Oh I remember your thread last year @filthycop - so glad he stayed and it worked out well. It must be such a huge change for them all starting at Brit.

Hi! Have you heard anything back yet? My DD is waiting to hear back from MT.

No news in any strand yet I don’t think. The office are saying 4-6 weeks from audition/ meeting this year so hopefully next few days.

@Bellarose1x - congratulations that’s wonderful news.

Two of us were wait listed, one no and one other yes for music on this thread.

The wait continues in this house as we are reserve list. Trying to see it as a lovely thing to have got this far but being realistic about our real chances as I think very few turn down a music place.

Sorry to hear that, I’m really shocked that we got a place & still can’t believe it.
Can you appeal?

Yes we can but just deciding if it’s worth it. It’s a very small reserve list so 🤞

I believe the school has lists of host families
