I have started thinking about secondary school for my son (he is 5, I am early).

Has any of you any experience with single sex schools? I am quite keen on an all boy school, but I wonder if I do this will I then
a) deprive my son of the company of girls or;
b) keep him focused on his school work.

My son likes girls, his best friend is a girl, though he also says he loves her, and will marry her, and asks about the birds and the bees.

The school I have in mind is an all boy catholic school. I am taken by the idea of this, and would appreciate any feedback on this.

I think segregating children on the basis of gender is a bit weird imo and not at all healthy.
school should be about forming relationships, learning to get on with others and so on rather than just not being distracted by the sight of a memeber of the opposite sex.
also, ime, it can lead to the problems wisteria talks about

(mind you I think it is pretty weird to segregate children on the grounds of their parent's religion, so I may not be the right person to ask )

I will have the same issue, so will be following this....

I agree with Harpsi.

Although am glumly prepared to accept that the Inferiottes will probably go to an all girl secondary school.

yes, me too MI. ah the great compromises of life...
it always amuses me too when people say "well they have a mixed sixth form" when this is precisely the time when the presence of the opposite sex becomes wildly distracting ime
